Summary of Case ID 9825242742: Exemption Request for G45 25W Light Bulbs
Initial Message to Seller Support:
I contacted seller support regarding the removal of my G45 25W incandescent light bulbs from Amazon UK. I believe this may be due to the new efficiency standards under the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA). However, my light bulbs fall under the exemptions specified in the legislation. The exemptions permit certain incandescent lamps, including "G-shape lamps with a diameter of 5 inches or more" and those using less than 40 watts. My G45 25W bulbs meet these criteria and are designed for specialised applications, fitting within the spirit of the exemptions. I requested that my bulbs be reinstated for sale, as they comply with the relevant regulations.
Response from Seller Support:
Seller support repeatedly closed the case, stating that the sale of certain incandescent lamps, including all frosted and some clear incandescent lamps with prohibited wattages, is no longer permitted on Amazon.co.uk. They provided a link to further information on the Seller Central website.
Summary:
I am seeking to have my G45 25W incandescent light bulbs reinstated for sale on Amazon UK. These bulbs meet the exemption criteria outlined in the EISA legislation and are designed for specialised applications. Despite this, seller support has closed my case multiple times, citing a general ban on certain incandescent lamps.

Thing is, what you would need here is amazon to actually review their policy (and thats assuming they are taking the EISA legistaltion as written). Amazon are within their rights to go above the legistation and ban prohibit whatever they want. its their site and they can do what they want essentially. For their ease, they may simply ban all incandescent bulbs.
The probibited electronics page states... 'Certain incandescent lamps and light-bulbs. This includes all frosted incandescent lamps (regardless of wattage) and clear incandescent lamps with the following wattages; 15w, 25w, 40w, 60w, 65w, 70w, 75w, 100w'
I hope you can get amazon to see sense on it and agree to meet the legislation - this is more of a warning that it might not be easy!
Oh - and to tag a moderator, you need to use the @ symbol, type a name AND select that name from the drop down list that appears. If it doesn't show in a blue bubble, you haven't tagged anyone.
