KYC Verification Issue - Provide evidence that you are physically operating your business from your provided address.
Hi all,
I, like almost every seller in the UK, have recently had my disbursements paused and been asked to undergo KYC verification. We all know how ridiculous this is, especially as almost all of us have already securely uploaded the documents Amazon are asking for.
I have been having issues with the verification. I have sent off to Amazon my VAT certificate, Passport, Driving Licence as well as a series of business invoices and bank statements. However I have received a notification back stating that additional documentation is required to: 'Provide evidence that you are physically operating your business from your provided address."
Amazon has requested that I provide:
"A recent UK council tax bill or business rates of the current year, addressed to the company or a director or partner of the company.
"A recent utility bill dated within 180 days addressed to the company or the director or partner of the company."
The trouble is, for my current registered business address, I am unable to provide either of these documents.
For context, I am a student, I have been running a successful business on Amazon for 5 years and have been VAT registered for 3 of these years. I am registered as a Sole Trader. My business address that I have been using is my home address where I grew up with my parents, while I currently live, work and study in another city. I did not wish to change my business to that of where I am studying as I move address every academic year and do not want the hassle or to have sensitive documents sent to halls etc..
The trouble is, for my registered business address, the bills are not paid in my name. And while I can provide utility bills with my name on them, these are for the address I am living at in a different city that is not currently registered with either Amazon or HMRC.
I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to proceed. Do you think it is possible for Amazon to accept a different form of proof of address, or should I go about updating my registered address with HMRC and Amazon and then submit the new documents.
I want to tread carefully and I am very wary of suddenly updating my address with Amazon, especially in times like these, In case of account suspension etc. I was wondering if anyone else has changed their address mid-way through KYC verification and how it played out.
Thank you & Good luck to everyone going through the same,
- Tall

What about your business insurance? Is that at your parents address?

I’ve got pretty much the exact same problem. I’ve been trading for a year and a half from my parents house and haven’t got any utility bills, council tax bills or proof of payment of rent in my name. So far i’ve submitted my drivers licence, bank statements, invoices for products i’ve bought and even sent them confirmation that I am on the electoral register yet this is apparently not enough.

In the end, I got my parents to add my name to the energy bill at my registered address. Most energy companies will let you do this just need to call them up. Sent the latest bill off to Amazon and finally got the
