Variation theme - colorsize, SizeColor
Just noticed the Amazon example of variation uses SizeColor:
SKU | Title | Size | Colour | Parentage | Parent SKU | Relationship type | Variation theme | Price | Quantity |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
101 | T-shirt | parent | SizeColour | ||||||
101MB | Royal blue T-shirt M | Medium | Royal blue | child | 101 | variation | SizeColour | 15.97 | 50 |
101SB | Royal Blue T-Shirt S | Small | Royal Blue | child | 101 | variation | SizeColour | 15.97 | 50 |
Looking at the Valid Values for the inventory file template it has both:
variation_theme
itempackagequantity-material
itempackagequantity
Color
colorsize
Size
material
size-material
color-itempackagequantity
itempackagequantity-size
color-material
SizeColor
Does using colorsize instead of SizeColor mean that the color option is shown first to the customer?
And why isn’t it ColorSize?

So just downloaded the artsupplies product type and that only has colorsize but no SizeColor?
variation_theme
numberofitems
LineSize
Size
Color
material
colorsize
MaximumExpandableSize
PaperSize
NumberOfItems
SizeName
Can you mix and match any of the above keywords as a follow up question? would materialSize produce a Material select and a Size option after it?
Edit:
In fact they’ve listed it as SizeColour in the table, but only shown the American spelling in the valid values.

And this is artsupplies
So are these the single variants:
- numberofitems
- NumberOfItems
- Size
- Color
- material
- MaximumExpandableSize
- SizeName
- LineSize
- PaperSize
Why is there numberofitems and NumberOfItems ?
And shouldn’t material be Material ?
And theres only one double variation (and no SizeColor)?
- colorsize

Just looked at the home product type and it has Color-Size with the hyphen!
So we have:
colorsize
ColorSize
SizeColor
color-size
Color-Size
And as an example on their own help page:
SizeColour
https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/8841
and an Example value of
Size/Color
So it does look like its completely case insensitive, and has an exception on ColorSize and SizeColor whilst everything else looks at the hyphen to mean double variation. And possibly color works with a u, whether thats only on SizeColour who knows.
