Customers will now see the sales trend for your eligible listings
Product listings for certain categories, including health and personal care, home and sports, will display a “sales trend” that highlights how many customers recently purchased that product.
“Sales trend” is a new listing feature that provides a broad estimate of the number of customers who recently bought a particular product. For example, the listing might show “10K+ bought in past month”. The feature is designed to help customers find your most recent popular products.
Similar to customer reviews, badges and sales rank, sales trend is automatically added to eligible listings.

This is disastrous. If your product has been out of stock for a month, buyers will now assume there's something wrong with it.
If your product usually only sells infrequently but has been going for a long time so has built up a lot of feedback, people will think the reviews are fake.
This information is completely useless to the Buyer. The only person who could possibly use it is someone using it to spy on competitors.

What an absolutely pointless 'new' feature !! - who thinks up these things ?!

Ultimately this is the best way for Amazon to drown out new products and innovations and promote only existing established products. This results in less customer choice. Yet another way to make it harder for smaller brands to compete.
