Selling Brand Perfumes on Amazon as a Retailer

Hi All,

Can you sell designer perfumes on Amazon using FBM if the designer company won't allow you to sell directly on Amazon UK ? If not, what is the best option?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Think you answered your own question here if the designer company won't allow you to sell on Amazon then it is not worth trying.

You could try buying from wholesale outlets and list these for sale on Amazon but you may well come unstuck with the brand taking your listing down. If they do take the listing down you won't be able to reinstate it as Amazon will want a letter of authority from the brand.

In my opinion it is not worth risking

I agree with @Seller_d8YGbIjNqwFxn

You dont own the brand. You dont have authority to sell. You may risk your account on Amazon and they may deactivate you. It is not an easy thing to get your account back and you will not be allowed to set up a new account. So it is really not worth it.

There are many other reseller platforms more suitable for this.

Best of luck

Hello @Seller_bOCPld74RpFDU,

Thanks for reaching out. @Seller_d8YGbIjNqwFxn and @Seller_hnJy2He6uzeGX have given you really helpful input here.

I want to add a bit of context. Amazon is an open marketplace, and any seller can list and sell genuine, authentic products, even products from brands they don't own. However, here's where it gets tricky with designer perfumes. If the brand actively objects to your listings, they can file an IP complaint through Amazon's Report a Violation, If that happens, you'd be asked to provide documentation such as:

  • A Letter of Authorization from the brand
  • Purchase invoices proving product authenticity
  • Evidence of a legitimate supply chain

Without these, your listing could be removed and your Account Health Rating would be impacted. If you can source genuine products from a verifiable distributor and keep valid invoices, you're within policy to sell. But if the brand has explicitly stated they won't allow sales on Amazon and is likely to file complaints, the risk to your account health is significant. For more details, I'd recommend reviewing Amazon's Intellectual Property Policy.
