Product Reviews: Reporting Non-Compliant Reviews

Hello Sellers,

We've noticed some questions about reporting product reviews that violate Amazon's policies. Let's clarify when and how to report non-compliant reviews properly.

When Should You Report a Review?

Reviews should only be reported if they clearly violate Amazon's Community Guidelines. Here are valid reasons for reporting:

✅ Valid Reasons to Report:

  • Contains obscene or offensive content
  • Includes personally identifiable information
  • Promotes other websites or sellers
  • Is actually a customer service query
  • Contains threats or illegal content
  • Is clearly about a different product
  • Contains promotional content from competitors

❌ Not Valid Reasons to Report:

  • The review is negative but follows guidelines
  • You disagree with the customer's opinion
  • The customer misused the product
  • Pricing complaints
  • Delivery-related feedback
  • Customer service complaints

How to Report Correctly

Before Reporting

  • Read the review carefully
  • Check if it truly violates guidelines
  • Gather relevant evidence if applicable
  • Consider if it's a genuine policy violation

Reporting Process

  • Navigate to the review in question
  • Click 'Report abuse' link below the review
  • Select the appropriate violation category
  • Provide clear, factual explanation
  • Submit only once per review

After Reporting

  • Allow time for investigation
  • Don't contact the reviewer
  • Don't submit multiple reports for the same review
  • Consider appropriate business changes if the feedback is valid

Important Reminders

  • Reviews are a crucial part of the customer experience
  • Negative reviews, while challenging, can provide valuable feedback
  • Multiple incorrect reports may affect your seller account health
  • Consider implementing feedback from valid negative reviews

💡 Pro Tip: Instead of focusing solely on removing negative reviews, consider using feedback constructively to improve your product offerings and customer service.

We have noticed that no MODS have answered anything for a few weeks, no help provided, some things were very urgent and SS are useless.

I wondered if all MODS had left, so what happened, can MODS look at past Posts please.

Quite likely absent because it has been glaringly obvious from the response to the "teach your grandmother to suck eggs Conversations" that have been frequently posted by them asking for sellers' views that the tactic of raising conversations have simply been some placebo instead of a cure.

Mods seem to be able to take minor details ASINs for example for individual problems or order numbers but then can only pass these to some unnamed team to disappear into a black hole. It is clear they have no influence at all on resolving strategic problems.

I'm guessing that a lot of the mods are actually AI bots.

If that is the case, it would be helpful if Amazon labelled them as such so we know what (not) to expect in the way of meaningful responses...

I am frequently doing battle with listings that are 20% or slightly more higher than the identical product I list in the Uk and ship from there.

Do these people in Amazon not understand basic economics. After I add on import tax and the frightening cost of tracked and signed post to Europe as well as postage for ALL returns faulted or not (clothing) someone has to pay and I do not have to sell at a loss because Amazon thinks that the price points should be even !

I fear you might be right. In the past some mods seem to react and had a sense of humour but these days, they are more and more like bots. I still don't know with Amazon if everyone is a bot or if staff are trained to behave like bots.

Hi ,DigitelTechnologyLtd

I was wondering about this, and have noticed posts by NR_Amazon, Jonathan_Amazon, Dougal_Amazon, Indy_Amazon and Zyan_Amazon in the past few days, but I haven't seen any of the 'regulars' since 1st Jan... ?

Most of those last posted 4 weeks ago or more...

And there are many issues left unaddressed

Of course, as the ones above have failed to select images that show pedestrian crossings, we can't be sure they're human...

All Best

Possibly the most frustrating aspect of Amazon reviews is the number of 'phantom' reviews that are appearing with increasing frequency..

I like reading reviews but I find that, as aften as not, when you click on the star ratings you get this kind of result, even when there is (supposedly) a high percentage of reviews under that star rating:

Filtered by

3 star

No matching customer reviews

What is the point of allowing people to leave comment-free reviews?

For one thing, it makes it impossible to tell if those reviews were left in error or were, say, about the seller rather than the product.

Better to have no reviews than anonymous content-free review ratings, IMO.
