Updating the brand name of my products

Hello. Has anyone ever had any luck updating the brand names of their products on Amazon? I recently changed the name of my company so I need to update the brand name of the products (which I manufacture and only I sell) on Amazon.

Amazon brand registry support seem to have no idea what they’re talking about as I get completely contradictory advice from them. Some tell me it’s not possible without creating completely new listings with new ASINs, which I don’t want to do since I will lose the many excellent product reviews I have accumulated over the years. Others tell me it is possible, since I am the registered owner of both the old and new brand names, and give me instructions to delete the SKUs for 24 hours and re-list the ASINs with the updated brand name. This never works because the new brand name conflicts with the one in the Amazon catalogue.

The frustrating thing is that Amazon cataloguing department have updated the brand name of some of my products on my behalf in the past. Now they refuse to accept that they can do it.

I’ve been trying to resolve this issue for over a year but I always end up pulling my hair out as I go around and around in circles with Amazon support. It’s seriously the worst customer service I have experienced in my lifetime. I’ve given up on them and this is my last roll of the dice. Would appreciate any advice.

Thanks in advance.

Keep asking them! Raise a case for EACH item, choose the Brand Name as the part to be changed, provide EVIDENCE that the item is listed wrongly, (options are cataloge, photo of product, authoritative website - may be others I cant remember offhand) and they ‘should’ sort it for you, but it really depends ont he SS Agent who picks it up - ive had several do it straight away, and several where I had to re-open the case several times before it was done.

DONT GIVE UP!

Do NOT do this!

It is a violation and you are opening yourself to a PDP Tampering Suspension. I have seen it plenty.

Scroll to the bottom of this Amazon Help page and read the last line …

  • If you choose to re-brand a product you must create a new ASIN rather than update an existing ASIN. This is true even if the product is unbranded and does not change materially after the brand change. This includes adding a brand to a previously unbranded product.

I have a similar problem, Amazon cant help me either open my store front for my trade mark, their online help conflicts and often makes little sense and there is no one to pick up the phone and talk to to resolve the such issues. I recommend you close your Amazon account and move your selling to just your own web site and Ebays.

Hello,

You are able to change the brand name of your products… You must provide the details of the GS1 Company Prefix number, this shows that your product is in fact genuine. Also if these are your own products you should have some sort of invoice to prove where you’re buying them from?

If you have both of these, make it aware to the team that the company prefix number is the same from the old brand to the new brand.

You might have to enrol your brand on the Amazon Registry if they do not accept the Prefix number HOWEVER if your products are genuine and you have a Trademark number, enrol this and within 24hours if this is accepted you can change anything you wish and the Brand is yours and yours only.

Thanks

Its pretty simple and your allowed to do this as long as your the brand owner and its registered with brand registry.

Use the flat file template to upload your asins again and choose update from one of the columns. You may have to delete your exisiting listings in your inventory tab before you do this but thats what we did and was told by Amazon to do when the specialist called.

I am having the same problem, and have also been trying to fix it for over a year. I have been told to upload my listings using a flat file and change the brand name on there. The trouble is, it works for one or two listings, the rest list my new brand name as a different seller under my original listings in my old brand name. Like you, I own the brand and make my own products and do not want to lose my existing reviews. Please keep in touch as I have just been working on this today so could do with finding out how you get on. Based on the comments of others here, it seems we first need clarification on as to whether this is even allowed.

Firstly you need to be brand registered for BOTH brands new and old.
Then request the new brand name to replace the old. HOWEVER, you will lose all your reviews.

Policy:
Unless you are the creator of an ASIN, you cannot:

  • Change its brand or manufacturer name

SOURCE: https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/help.html/?itemID=200390640&ref_=id_200390640_a_r1_cont_sgsearch

This could be interpreted as allowing Sellers who have created ASIN’s to change BRAND attribute, however from experience I can tell you, no, don’t, even if you created you’ll eventually hit the previously mention ‘Product Detail Tampering’ cases.

“All changes to BRAND must be done by Seller Support” was what a Senior Source told me, and the answer will pretty much always be a hard “NO”, due to the other policy previously quoted:
“If you choose to re-brand a product you must create a new ASIN rather than update an existing ASIN.”
