PPC Clicks don't equal page views? Why?

Hi.

I’m frequently finding that on my business reports my total page views are less than my paid for views through PPC campaigns.

For example, I paid for 193 clicks on PPC on 25th Jan
I only received 108 page views though.

1 click = 1 page view (because there is nowhere else the click can be directed to)

Why am i paying for clicks that aren’t going to my listings?

This is happening with 1000s of clicks per month

Thanks

I’m not sure how amazon ppc work, but I know from previous experience with other companies

You are charged per click, but often the page view discounts multiple visits from the same person in a short period of time.

So for instance if I keep backing out and going back into your sponsored ad you will be charged each time I click, but the oage recognises that i’ve been there before recently so doesn’t add the view

I have the same issue, Hollew. There is a huge discrepancy between page views and clicks starting from the same period as yours. Since the end of January, we have started multiple advertising campaigns and they have received only half of the page views compared to the clicks.

I even checked the advertising invoice to see the exact clicks that have been billed. It is the same. I have compared with different date ranges and countries from our advertising report, none had this problem. Only in the UK, starting from February 2022 onwards we are having this problem.

If this is true, it means we are paying an insane amount of money to clicks that are not even valid as a view. I have opened a case to Amazon but received a generic reply that did not help.

But even in that reply, it states,
“Why is there discrepancy between Page Views and Clicks: When a customer clicks on your ad and visit the detail page, it will be counted as 1 click and also 1 page view for the product as per functionality. However, there could be variance in Clicks and Page Views as Sponsored Ads removes any invalid clicks received in which case, you will see higher page views than the clicks.”

This is exactly what I am asking them… I should have the same or more page views, not less. We need a person from Amazon advertising to review and fix this issue ASAP.

Amazon said to me that PPC clicks don’t show up in business reports.
They were never intended to, which is a bit annoying when you are trying to optimise.
