GTIN , Brands are not eligible for exemption

Hi there.
I’m trying to list an item that I manufacture.
I’ve contacted seller support & say say to list it as “Generic”, But when I do this I get an error message saying it . " Brands are not eligible for exemption" & I need an GTIN number.
It’s impossible to actually speak to someone from the Seller Central, & I’m going around in circles trying to get a human being to contact me.
Hopefully someone on here will see this message & be able to help .
Look forward to hearing from anyone.
Thanks

There seems to be an error at the moment that isn’t allowing the brand Generic to apply for an exemption.

No idea if/when it will be fixed though.

If you are manufacturing your item yourself can you put your name on it somewhere and apply for exemption under your brand name, and subsequently approval to sell that brand name (which has nothing to do with trademarks or brand registry).

You will need your brand permanently affixed to the product or packaging though, not on a sticker.

Put N\A as the brand, (notice its a backslash, not forward) then put your brand name as the first word in the title, otherwise Amazon will insert NA before any other words of the title.

If you put your brand name first, it won’t add the NA at the start.

I tried using the N\A for branding, it still says I need Branding Conformation, I’ve re sent the photos to Amazon.
Is there anything else I could try ?
Thanks

Hi…
I’ve received a mail …
It say’s :-

Please be informed that in the provided images, we do not see sufficient proof that the branding is permanently affixed to the product and/or packaging, per the Brand Name Policy.

Please be informed that in future, if you would like to request another review, we require new images that show the brand is permanently affixed to the product and/or packaging.

You can still list the ASIN you were trying to create with the brand name Generic or a brand name already approved for use, in accordance with the Amazon Brand Name Policy: https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/G2N3GKE5SGSHWYRZ?referral=A30DO64R8LUEC8_A1K7AZZF08WQ86

In case you plan to list your products under Generic and do not have a barcode or GTIN for your items then you will need to apply for GTIN Exemption. Once you receive the exemption, you can proceed with listing products under the brand name Generic.

I really don’t understand… I’ve tried to list it as Generic & I’ve asked for GTIN Exemption … !!!
I’ve seen that I might need to buy a UPC or an EAN … ??
I’m at my wits end… All i want to do is try to sell my item !!!..
If anyone can help / advise it would be greatly appreciated …

Hi, I don;t have any suggestions to add to this thread, just to say, I am in the exact same situation as the original poster. I’ve been selling via Handmade for 6 years, suddenly to be told last week that I am no longer eligibla to sell under this category and have had all my listings deactivated.

Tried to go through brand approval, for GTIN exemtion, as I manufacture my own products to order, but it was rejected as the logo isn’t permenantly affixed to the products/packaging, and applying for GTIN exemption under Generic isn’t working for me either.

I have purchased some EAN numbers via GS1, really hoping that that works

Hi
You only need one of the items you sell to actually pass the inspection to get the brand approval

if you sell cardboard packaging tubes, do a bit of image wizardry and write your brand onto the cardboard so it looks printed
like this (Use photoshop or similar to get your logo onto it)

otherwise, get a rubber stamp with your logo on it (around £14) and stamp one of the tubes

The rules state it has to be printed not a label

Thanks… I’m looking at having a stamp made to stamp the cardboard tube…
Not sure if I can get a stamp small enough for the 16mm Diameter Aluminium Poles.
Will having the cardboard shipping tube printed on be enough ? Or does every item in the kit need to have the brand printed on ?

If you are making different designs, will you need an EAN for each design ?
Did you buy direct off GS1 ?
It looks like UPCs.com sell a UPC starting @ $5 for 1 & a lot less for bulk numbers
