Brexit has killed my FBA
So, I have to send my goods to the different European FBA center’s to continue to sell in Europe. I also need to register for VAT in each country.
Now, I sell low value items ( approx. £10 ish per item) and to send a box to a fulfillment center will cost a lot of money. Also, factor in the cost of employing someone to register in each country. And of course the approx. 30% you lose to Amazon and I will be left with negative profit in every European country.
So to surmise I can no longer sell anything to any country in Europe apart for the UK
Does anyone else have this problem??

I think the answer will be “a lot” !
So many people will have issues because of the ending of Pan European selling, thus having to register for VAT in each applicable country, coupled with the significant increases in Royal Mail postage costs, which also come into effect on January 1st, along with Brexit. Without wanting to politicise the thread, this is what happens when politicians lie to the electorate about the outcome of a referendum. It hasn’t turned out quite in the way it was projected to and as a result, many a seller here will suffer greatly. Chuck in Covid for good measure…the Perfect Storm

Do you sell a lot? evenly in Europe?
You don’t have to register in every country if most of your sales are Germany.
Shipping cost me £10 to send 4 boxes weighing 15kg to Germany today. Pre Brexit special price

Yes it’s not great we have never focused on EU last year done alright, I have set a returns address etc. up now but personally I think by the time we pay for vat returns etc. In all the native countries and what ever charges its not going to be worth the agro.

We have registered for vat now in Poland, Czch,Austria,Spain,Italy,Germany & France so far and have to pay Vat monthly or Quartlerly and there are lost of cost involved. unless you are selling substancial volumes probably not worth it.

I gave up selling in Europe 2 or 3 years ago, and it was the best thing we ever did! (Low Value Items). Much less agro. Remember that if you have “EU” competitors who sell the same stuff, that their advantages (VAT and lower cost post) will end on December 31st and so hopefully we will sell more!

Hi, just a question relating to this this subject, how would I de-activate my ‘global sales’? After reading all of your posts I think it’s better for now to sell just in the UK. Thanks.

The entire UK is sleepwalking into something worse than WW1 and WW2 combined.

If you was selling so much accross Europe, was you using the Amazon Pan-European, program???, if so it’s always been a legal requirement to be VAT registered in every Country that you store your Inventory in away, so nothing has changed, or was you just breaking all your VAT obligations in these Countries and using the Pan European program anyway??? If you was just sending UK and then paying FBA fee’s plus the international add that adds up to quite alot, probably more or equal to Royal Postage costs to send this stuff FBM. I don;t use the Royal Mail for my FBM service however they do do alot lower rates on International Postage on there Country sort program (but very rarely seem to mention this to sellers), where you have presort the mail by each Country and send a minimum of 1kg to each Country, if whcih is probably like 80 or 90 percent of your sales are in Germany and France you can just set you account up to send these two Countries. 1KG of post of not alot.
