No UPC/EAN/ISBN/ASIN on my products

Hello, sorry this is my first time setting up a amazon FBA account, i was following a YouTube guide on how to sell so I’ve listed some items but the way i was told to do it on the video tutorial was to find the product on amazon and click the “sell this product” button, I’ve done all this listed the items and dispatched them but for some reason I’m not quite sure why all my items have been flagged and removed until I request permission? I don’t really want to upset other sellers by hijacking there product advertisement so I tried creating my own product but these items were purchased from Alibaba and have come with nothing other than a delivery note, would I go about getting the UPC/EAN/ISBN/ASIN by buying a barcode online or am I just being a mong at this point?

sorry if this seen a little strange and probably pretty basic, could probably use an extremely basic step by step guide if anyone knows anywhere I can find one.

Thanks in advance

Regards
Andy

Hello!
You can go to Gs1uk.org you’ll have to create a username and register with them to buy GTIN-13 (EAN) barcodes. if you are a new seller, you can get the smallest package (I think its about £140 for 1000 numbers) For your products that you receive from your Chinese supplier, you’ll need to assign a barcode to them on your GS1 account and use that EAN number to create your listing. You’re better off doing this from the start so that as you get more sales and grow, you can brand your items and register your brand from amazon, then no one will be able to tag onto your listing.

Don’t worry we all started somewhere! If you need any more help i’m more than happy to help
one thing I would recommend is that you should speak to a few suppliers in china to get the best deal and also get them to send samples so that you know you’re selling a good product! Another thing I would add is to probably get your stuff shipped to your home or business premises first from your supplier so that you can ensure the packaging and the presentation is up to your standards and then you can add your barcode and send them in to amazon FBA

Without sounding harsh no, no and no again.

You tube videos are definitely a no as they don’t always follow amazon procedures and are not up to date.

You also can’t just list your generic products on any old listing.

Do you have any invoices from your Chinese supplier or just alibaba?

Sorry for sounding so tough but if you have read through these forums you’ll see some of the horror stories people in your shoes have told.

Have a read of the amazon seller university pages

FORGET everything you have been told on these get rich quick schemes as they will most likely get your account suspended very quickly and it could be quite an expensive lesson

The ONLY place you should be initially learning from is SELLER UNIVERSITY

another YouTube nightmare. to be plain and simple, Amazon wont let you sell items that have been sourced from Alibaba as you have only got a delivery note and not a “proper” invoice so it could be a struggle to keep the account from being suspended if amazon ask for the invoices as they usually do with new accounts

depending what items you are trying to sell you may need amazons permission to sell them (see gated items) and as far as I am aware amazon are not entertaining applications on many of the restricted categories.

Your very first step needs to be removing your stock, you can do this on your inventory page, to the right of the ‘edit’ button choose ‘create removal order’ from the drop down menu. Make sure you choose for it to be returned to you (and not destroyed!), it will cost you around 25p + VAT per item, a small price to pay for saving your account.

If you manage to get approval to sell in the toys category and all the required documentation then you will probably need to purchase your own barcodes, these can only be bought from GS1, do not be tempted to buy them from ebay!

As @Kingstar says, your next stop should be Seller University but, in brief, you cannot list on someone else’s listing if it has their brand on it.

Hopefully, by removing your stock you may be able to avoid a suspension but, if it happens, post the notification on the forum for advice before sending your plan of action as you only have a limited number of attempts to appeal.
