Mumsnet !
Check out the Amazon thread on Mumsnet yesterday ! By and large, it seems that respectable middle-class Britain is celebrating Amazon's amazing customer service, particularly the helpful way they suggest you ask for a refund if things might possibly arrive late, and the way that you don't have to return an item to get a refund on it anymore. I have flagged up that it is the individual sellers who are footing the bill, not Amazon - but my voice has been overwhelmed. People just do not realise. They think its Amazon's amazing caring generosity. If anyone is on Mumsnet, now is the time to set the record straight. People just do not know.

Yet they would be among the first to condemn shoplifting, not realising that theirs is basically the same mind-set - something for nothing. Yippeee!!!

Are you able to post just the end of the URL, or the thread subject so we can find it? Thanks.

Thank you for understanding this issue.... I'm resellers on the Amazon platform. Basically I've realised selling on Amazon is a zero sum game, No matter what we as resellers do Amazon will always win. People buying on Amazon return £2.00 items back .... using a label that costs £3.00 odd. Amazon has got sellers so used to this kind of service they think Amazon is the best not realising whatever their behaviour Amazon is the ultimate winner. Customers buy what they don't need, all the noise about Black Friday deals ultimately has fizzled out. Customers are not able to understand what a good deal nowadays mean... put the prices up by 50% and then reduce it by 40% on Black Friday!

Unleash the second half of the link and let the legions of Amazon sellers descend upon it!
Actually probably best not to do that but it does give a useful insight into the views of Amazon customers. I have had many people tell me how they game Amazon only for me to begin ranting that they are in fact ripping off a tiny seller who's probably struggling.

I don't normally go to Mumsnet but I am going to look for this thread, if I find it I will post something. After all, many sellers are mothers and sometimes single mothers, these are the people who they might rip off, not a large multinational.

I believe that most people who engage in this behavior are fully aware that it’s dishonest and amounts to theft, but they choose to go along with it. It reflects a shift in societal morality, where many now see this as acceptable. At our physical store, we’ve noticed that customers over 70 are quick to point out any mistake in their favor and will even return later to correct it. In contrast, those under 70 are often content to stay silent, viewing the error as a bonus. It’s clear that honesty isn't as valued today as it once was.

Who is down-voting all those who want to see the mumsnet thread? That seems odd to me!
