Buyer used AI Photo editing to get refund
Recently we had a customer ask for a refund claiming they had an issue with the product they purchased.
We asked for a photo of the items and they sent an AI generated or AI edited photo of the product. Edited in a way to backup their refund request.
I just wanted to make other sellers aware this may become a new popular method for buyers to get refunds.
Additionally, I hope AMZ can put some process in place to counter this

I've seen several threads stating the same thing. I think it's already a popular Amazon scam unfortunately!

Hello @Seller_jJWNoJ7fTpx4T,
Thank you for raising awareness on this. I understand how concerning it can be when buyers misuse tools like AI photo editing to manipulate images in support of refund claims. We take reports like this seriously and would like to look into your specific case further.
Please share the following details so I can review this on my end:
- Order ID
- A-to-Z Claim ID
Once I have these details, I'll be able to investigate and provide you with more specific guidance on next steps.
Regards,
Billy

I've taken the position now that if they want a refund they need to return otherwise you can't decide if photos are genuine.

Hi
Is there anyway we can tell the photo has been AI tampered with, what do we need to be looking for?
Kind regards

Billy_Amazon asked for the order details etc 4 days ago... did you provide? If we as sellers are spending time reading these posts, which are usually helpful to us too, we'd like to see the results! :)

If someone wants a refund they need to return the item. I know this can be more costly for you initially but you will then only have to refund the genuine ones and will save money in the long run.

This only applies if the order isn't refunded by Amazon and goods gifted to them by Customer Services
Most of the time the customer just rings CS with a sob story and no questions asked or evidence requested, just gets an instant refund and told to keep the goods without return.
Amazon then denies any Safe-T or A-Z claim as seller responsibility and ignored any evidence supplied.
Trying to contact the customer for direct evidence you are met with a wall of greyed out messaging options with just "curtesy refund or replacement" left open.
