DAC7 verification - Company Registration Number required for Sole Proprietor/Individual - doesn't make sense

I’m required to verify information under DAC7 Directive and also re-verify current details for 'Inform Customers ACT' (I live in Ireland and sell in the US)

The problem: When re-verifying business details, now I am required to enter a “COMPANY REGISTRATION NUMBER” which I do not have. I am a Sole Proprietor who trades with a 'DBA' name. I completed my Tax Interview as an “Individual.”

Firstly, I don’t know why I am being asked for a Company Reg Number, if I don't have a company? (IMAGE 1)

I worry my account may incorrectly recognize me as a business entity, possibly due to my use of a DBA (common practice in Ireland).

When I look at options to update my "Business Information" in Account Info, the only viable option is “Privately Owned Business,” which I assume may be for LLCs or corporations? There is no option for Individual (IMAGE 2)

When I go to Verify the DAC7 info, it’s also asking me for a Company Reg No. and Business VAT/GST number. I don’t know how to proceed, and I have 28 days until deactivation.

I've tried to speak to Account Health and to get assistance, but after many attempts no real clarity or resolution has been given and I'm very worried.

Can any Amazon Moderators help with this, please? (CASE NUMBER: **16525935651)

  • In particular, is it possible to officially check if my Seller account recognizes me as a "Business/LLC" or "Sole Proprietor/Individual"?
  • And if it is incorrectly as a separate business entity, how can I correct that?

I would really appreciate any advice and assistance?

S.

You are talking here to US sellers, and the DAC7 concerns European sellers. Most probably also US seller support will not be able to help you.

I am European and can see that your second screenshot prooves that when registering your seller account you did chose "Business" and not "Individual"! That was obviously a mistake, a mistake many people do, even those with "Single Member LLC" wrongly choose "Business".

Now, I don't know if seller support can change that for you. Probably you have to change also your tax information. Create a case with seller support, don't talk about DAC7, just ask if they can change your choice from "Business" to "Individual".

When creating your account, did you take screenshots? That's very necessary and useful and if yes, go verify those screenshots.

Hello @Seller_3ZVxCkeiC61NS

"Firstly, I don’t know why I am being asked for a Company Reg Number, if I don't have a company?"

Thank you for the information provided regarding the issues you have been experiencing. I understand you have been experiencing issues with information being requested that you do not have. As mentioned by @Seller_rI7BZIczK8iAC, you will need to update your details to reflect that you are an individual if it has not been done so already. This can be done through the 'Tax Information' option under the settings in seller central.

Once updated and reflecting in the account, we encourage you to check back on the information for the verification to see if it is reflecting. If you experience any issues, we do encourage you to open a case with our team and share the ID for us to further review.

If you get any updates you would like to share, please refer back to this thread for support.

Best,

Atlas
