How to Avoid Customs for International Sellers?

Hi. I sell low priced items, and ship them from North America to the UK. I need to avoid my packages being charged customs, so I want to keep the value of each package well below $20 US. In order to do that, I need to restrict customers from buying multiple items for each order. I know how to restrict the quantity per ASIN, however I am not sure it is possible to restrict the number of items per order. I have thought about trying to make my shipping charge per order negative, and ballooning the per item shipping charge, so that it would be normal shipping costs for one item, and crazy high shipping for two items, however Amazon does not permit a negative shipping amount.

Basically, I just need to know ideas for restricting buyers to only purchase 1 item per order. Creative ideas welcome.

I think VAT rather than customs duty is your consideration. Anything over £15 INC shipping and your UK customers will have to pay VAT before the order is released

However the main issue is that you are listing on the UK site so your customer should not pay anythig other than the display price - those are Amazon rules. So you need to make sure you are paying that on their behalf somehow

I don’t believe their is a way of limiting orders to one product.

You can edit your items to set the maximum order quantity to, say, one.

That said, you’ll be in hot water with Amazon if a rogue one gets through and a customer gets a VAT and/or duty demand.

If you can ship them 1 at a time for under $20 then just split everything into individual parcels. Bear in mind $20 is currently more than £15, and that needs to include both the value of the goods and shipping…

cann’t you join the Global Seller programme?

I’m always buying stuff from global sellers on the UK site and amazon sorts out all the import VATon your behalf and charge me at order
