Unreasonable Return Processing Fee

We got an unreasonable charge for return processing fee!!!

On June 1, 2024, the updated returns processing fee will go into effect for products with high return-rates (except apparel and shoes). So we start to check the circumstance of our items to address return problem in advance. Then I just found that the shoe brush was charged for return processing fee all the time because it is filed under shoewear! Wow, each is $2.19. It should be in home&kitchen.

We opened a case with Amazon to claim reimbursement, Amazon asked for order ID which was charged for return processing fee. After providing the order ID with Amazon, they said "Shoe brushes are considered shoe care products, and shoe care kits are also considered items subject to a return processing fee. In summary, these return processing fees are accurate and therefore a refund cannot be claimed for you. It is so ridiculous."

Everybody, please check if you have such problem.

Amazon has always charged a return processing fee. As well as a fee on using Amazon shipping (which negates out any "discount" you get from the commercial base rate and may actually cost you more) plus other hidden fees.

For perspective, we’ve paid around $18,000 this year to return/ remove around 3,000 units that are 2lb each (10x8x2” in size) Shipped in boxes that are way oversized and 70% empty. Contacted Amazon multiple times—they don’t care.

After filing taxes last year, I did a cost analysis and last year FBA officially became more expensive than FBM by about 4%.
