Return of item in poor condition
Hi,
Just wondered what experience people have of Amazon giving refund to customers returning items not in resaleable condition?
We sell dog coats and occasionally get returns when customer has ordered wrong size. However we had a request 25 days ago for return of a dog coat bought 61 days ago.
It finally arrived today - and has clearly been used outdoors. There are mud splashes on the outer as well as lots of dog hairs stuck in velcro. (We always include info on a return request to say items must be as new condition in original packaging and in particular, must not be returned with stains or dog hairs. The bags we use have plastic handles with clicker close and size marked on - it hasn’t even been returned in the bag.
I have contacted Amazon to say we are not happy to refund on this but wondered what experience others have of Amazon’s reaction to refund requests in this type of situation? Thanks!

Sorry - meant to add that reason for return was stated as "not as website description/wrong size.

You can deduct the cost of loss of value out of the refund.
But be prepared, that the buyer might then leave you a negative feedback in return, which Amazon won’t remove.
In case of a potential A-Z claim, Amazon will support you and fund the difference out of their own funds, as long as you represent your case properly.
