Amazon blocked product for ingredient - butylphenyl methylpropional (Lilial)

We have removed the banned ingredient from the product but Amazon will not let us reinstate, regardless of providing evidence that the product does not include the banned ingredient.

Cannot get through to anyone at amazon. Have been trying to get the product reinstated or relisted for over a year.

Hello @Seller_kgyN8pnJrzw6k,

Thank you for reaching out.

What notification did you receive when your listing was blocked? Did you get a plan of action to follow?

Would you be willing to share the ASIN number?

Best regards,

Julia.

Hi @Seller_kgyN8pnJrzw6k,

I wasn’t familiar with Lilial before, so I looked into it a bit. What I found suggests that Lilial may have endocrine-disrupting properties, potentially interfering with hormonal systems. It has also reportedly been linked to reproductive toxicity in animal studies. Due to these concerns, the European Union classified Lilial as a Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, or Reprotoxic substance.

Given the regulatory severity, I can understand why reinstating your listing might be particularly challenging. That said, there is still a process worth pursuing. Amazon’s help page on product safety alerts, recalls, and market withdrawals (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/GRD4EMBNNW3P47GH) might provide some useful guidance.

The page explains that before reinstating an ASIN suppressed due to a product safety alert, Amazon first requires confirmation that all affected inventory has been removed or destroyed. Once that is resolved, a Letter of Compliance (LOC) needs to be submitted. This document should be on the manufacturer’s letterhead and include details such as the reason for the suppression, the specific ASIN(s) affected, and assurances that all future inventory will meet regulatory standards. Relevant safety certifications and testing reports should also accompany the LOC.

If you’ve already removed the impacted inventory, your next step would be to focus on obtaining the necessary safety documentation and preparing a compliant LOC. It might also help to reference this specific policy in your correspondence with Amazon to ensure your case is reviewed under the correct framework.

I hope this gives you a path forward. Wishing you the best of luck in resolving the issue!

Kind regards, Michael

Hi

Did you sell any items with the 'banned' ingredient in?

Was the ASIN active with sales before it got banned?

I've had numerous products like this - you need to stay on at seller support and eventually you'll get through to someone who will help change the ingredients list.

You need to create a new asin, once an asin has been blocked it will never be allowed back on the platform

if you have changed the ingredients then you have changed the product, new asin is required
