Marketplace Facilitator Order...what?
Hi I am a sole trader living in the UK, not VAT registered and showing as VAT exempt on Amazon.
I’ve had an order to be delivered to Jersey and the order has a note attached saying ‘Marketplace facilitator order…Amazon is collecting VAT on this order’ anyone know why? I’ve contacted my accountant to to see if they have any idea?

Though amazon has got it wrong and is applying it to all orders.

I always assumed that we were deemed to be the business despatching the item and not Amazon. All Invoices are in our name and not Amazon.
It is interesting they are deeming Amazon to be the company. In this context though I agree it is working as intended and they have to take GST on all items.
I have seen articles such as this though. Is amazon right, as their turnover as a business far exceeds £300k, or have they simply applied the same rule to everyone incorrectly?
