Lost tracking number - Amazon can’t recognize this possibility
I shipped an order on time and customer received order, but I lost my tracking number on the shipment so couldn’t log it in. Amazon sent me an email saying of course I hadn’t shipped it, as they should. I opened up case orders over and over and over again to say what happened and all I get every time is
“We can’t do anything until you send us the shipment tracking number. “
I’ve done this ten times with them and just get the same response, as they only recognize one possibility. I even found a phone number once and talked to someone who also couldn’t understand the idea of a list tracking number. Anybody know who I can call on the phone to try and resolve this? Thanks so much in advance for any help you can give me.

Odd post. You admit that Amazon is correct, yet you attempt 10 times to demonstrate that they are incorrect.
One way to obviate this sort of problem is to use Amazon shipping. Then there is no need to manually type in anything.

So I wish there was an answer to this post other than you are out of luck! The TOS is clear on this point. , But it can allow you to look at your business practices to see where you are losing time and money.
In online retail, especially on Amazon, margins are slim once you factor in labor, packaging, and shipping. Amazon gives you tools to combat the “lost” Tracking number. Use Buy Shipping!
If you have to go to USPS or UPS to buy shipping, you waste time, gas, and money since you are paying shipping retail rates.
A best practice is if you buy your postage at USPS, have them email the receipt; then, you will have proof of the tracking number and can just copy and paste the tracking number. In addition, you will have the receipt for your taxes.
Look into getting a shipping app that can link to your Amazon Account that is the easiest way, and all info will auto-populate the shipping info.
Rethink your practices. There are Seller University articles that discuss all of these topics.
Good Luck

I don’t understand what is the problem…
Did a buyer complain?
Is this your only defect?
If a buyer complained, you would lost the claim because you did not purchase the label via amazon.
If one defect affects so badly your account health, too bad. Just move on…in few weeks your ODR will improve.

Did you never confirm the shipment (even without the tracking number)? If not, Amazon will issue a full refund seven days after the last ship by date.
This missing tracking number only affects your metrics. One metrics hit should not do much to a normally healthy account.

What JwsMarket said… did you confirm without tracking ? You must confirm to be paid. Confirming indicates you shipped it. Not confirming indicates you did not ship.
And, the only way you can lose a tracking number is buying over the counter and losing your receipt. This is preventable. Either by using online systems like PirateShip, buying the label through Amazon, using Stamps, etc. – or by having the post office email your receipt.

Yes, as others have mentioned, it seems you haven’t confirmed the order as shipped.
If that’s the case, you need to confirm the order , otherwise you will never get paid for it, and it will be auto canceled.

Thank you all for the help - I think the problem is resolved because of your help. The many suggestions on how to avoid this problem are great. I ship from my post office, so I may not be able to use different tracking suggestions, but I didn’t think I could confirm shipment without the tracking number. When I clicked on confirm shipment it would say I needed a tracking number before I could go ahead. I didn’t realize if you clicked on it again it would go ahead anyway without the tracking number. Thanks for the help - I really appreciate it!
