Brand application - 'abusive content'
Hi,
I have a seller and KDP account and sell nothing but my own 2 books, both as Kindle and paperback, either my own copies as a marketplace seller or through KDP, depending on my stock.
The books are a lightly satirical take on the ownership of ponies, so about as fluffy as could be really. On top of this, both have been bestsellers in various Amazon categories in several countries.
The description I’m allowed to add on my listings pages is woeful, and with the second book it’s never even allowed me to add paragraph breaks or bold text. I tried around 30 support attempts but all ended in ‘we fixed it this time’ but they never did.
So, I thought I’d try the more thorough (and expensive) option to register as a brand so that I could build my own A+ Content pages.
This required a trademark, so I’ve gone through the whole process for several months of successfully registering that (for a few hundred quid) and then applied to Amazon for a brand account.
This was refused on the basis of ‘abusive conduct’ exhibited somehow by my account. Obviously I’m at an utter loss to understand what on earth they’re talking about, and they provided no details whatsoever. All I’ve done is sell some funny books and have never had anything other than a 5* feedback review.
I appealed of course, and have at last had the result, which is a definitive and final ‘NO’ because of all the ‘abusive conduct’. Again, no detail, no explanation and no recourse to even respond. My only suggested action was to come to the forums or read the FAQs.
Now, ignoring the utter ludicrousness of what is clearly a very broken (and pretty sick!) automated system, does anyone have any advice? What am I supposed to do? As usual, I feel utterly helpless and frustrated.
Any help greatly appreciated.

That does seem a very strange thing to do for a book/books ?!
In Amazon speak, a book’s ‘brand’ is the publisher, I believe (though may be wrong ?).
Also, they use the term ‘abusive’ in a different way to what our understanding would be.
I have no advice to offer, apart from I think you have wasted your money !!

Abusive can also cover your eu accounts being deactivated
In order to change pictures and description etc as the publisher, can you not do this on Neilson as it should pull through to amazon

Abusive content as the title or abusive conduct as in your OP?
Out of interest, were all 30+ attempts to fix your formatting, that they replied with “we fixed it this time”, met with politeness and the direction to ‘delight’ customers?

I once had this happen for one of my brands and it was simply because I had filed a counterfeit claim on another seller.

In the books, does anyone “smack the pony” or somesuch? There are so many cranks spending their time reporting listings these days it could be the content they are talking about.
You can be sure the Amabots wont be able to algorithmise it into common sense, needs a human touch this one, so I would keep messaging until that happens.

I can’t help with the ‘abusive conduct’ issue but did want to let you know you can now add A+ content in KDP. I haven’t used it yet but it looks like you can do this without being brand registered. You can find the option under the marketing tab. This might help with your initial description issues.

Well, I got an answer through after following the usual rabbit holes to get support.
Supposedly some of my European accounts were dormant which, somehow, is construed as ‘abuse’! No idea why/how, but there you go.
Anyway, the secret blocks placed on the account have supposedly been released so I’m welcome to start the process again.
