Urgent: Sudden 90% Drop in Sales Since 13th Sept – Need Investigation

Hello Amazon Team and Fellow Sellers,

We are reaching out because our sales have dropped by over 90% since 13th September without any apparent reason. We have done a full internal audit but cannot find the issue.

Here’s what we’ve checked so far:

Inventory – All products are in stock and available for purchase.

Pricing – Competitive pricing in line with market and Featured Offer price maintained.

FBA & Fulfilment – No issues with FBA stock or fulfilment.

Account Health – Our health rating is excellent. We’ve responded to all past violations promptly.

Contact with Amazon Teams – We reached out to the Health Assurance Team, who confirmed there is nothing wrong with our account health. We also contacted Seller Support multiple times but only received standard responses suggesting to check competition and external factors.

We have already thoroughly analysed competition, pricing, and other external factors, and we do not believe such a drastic drop (90%) can be explained by external or pricing competition alone.

We’re happy to provide our sales analysis and screenshots of our Health Rating to help investigate.

Could someone from Amazon please review our account internally and let us know:

If there are any internal restrictions, hidden suppressions, or technical issues affecting our listings.

If there’s any change in visibility, advertising, or Buy Box eligibility that we may have missed.

What steps we can take to restore our sales levels.

We greatly appreciate your help as this drop is severely impacting our business.

Thank you,

Have you checked to see if your delivery times have been padded for any reason?

Is it possible Amazon was offering a discount out of their pocket on those products and that's now stopped?

Have you checked the voice of the customer to see if those items have received damage from returns or anything similar?

Have you checked to make sure the products are still in their correct categories?

Are their other sellers on the listings who might somehow be syphoning sales even though you have the buy box?

I've had this in the past and it was a change of category that did it. Amazon sometimes does this for no apparent reason and it can be catastrophic for indexing and ranking. I would do the following:

- check each listing one at a time and check which sub category they are in

- check your BSR graph for each product. Has it suddenly shot up to a much higher number (reflecting a drop in rank)

- index check for all your main keywords. Are you still indexed

- use a keyword tracker to see if you have lost rank on your main keywords

- check the above for your competitors. Is it happening to everyone or just you?

Edit - I've just checked that first one and realise now that you are just one of several offers on the ASIN. Someone else has the buy box at the moment at the same price but price isn't the only factor. For example, you have a 92% seller rating whilst the current BB owner has 98%. That could be a factor. Also things like how much inventory do you have in the system, how well is it distributed and how well do you manage your inventory can affect the BB.

Check the traffic/conversion rate stats on your listings and compare to previous months.

We find that conversion rates stay pretty much the same, it's usually a drop in traffic that is the main cause of a drop in sales.

Of course then it's a case of figuring out why traffic has dropped so much, and what can be done to improve it..

It does feel like that there are often a lot of changes on Amazon in September in preparation for Q4. The site gets reconfigured and I think this can sometimes drastically affect the flow of traffic to some categories. It can be like reading tea leaves trying to work out why stuff like this happens sometimes though, because Amazon aren't really transparent about things at the best of times.
