Another error code 5461 issue - please help!
Hi team,
I have my account set to whatever the default setting is when listing in Europe, i.e. I add my product as normal, ship it in, and then once it’s received it automatically gets listed on all the other European Market Places.
What periodically happens with my products (usually at least 1 or 2 each shipment) is the below error.
This then essentially locks me out of being able to edit anything within the item (namely - the price!), I have raised multiple tickets with Seller Central and I have yet to had anyone come back with a remotely coherent answer.
From what I can gather - as it’s automatically listing my product on all the other market places as well, is that when it does so - if the listing doesn’t exist, it tries to create it as a direct clone of the UK one. And if there is a similar listing for the product on say .de or .se, etc, it blocks the item from being listed on that site, and is suggesting I add it under the alternative matiching ASIN (which of course the error doesn’t list).
The thing is - I am mostly selling toys. A lot of the time the listings in question has multiple other UK sellers (the one I have the error showing on has 53 offers currently) so SURELY I can’t be the only person since that listing was created to try and list that product in whatever country the error is being causing?
Either that or am I doing something wrong when trying to list in Europe? Should I make it so that my products are only listed in the UK and then manually add them under other matching asins on the European sites.
I am at my whits end with this - if anyone can offer advise I’d greatly appreciate it.
Cheers!

Hi its obviously suggesting there is an alternative listing - It will match to the title or description, once you have checked all marketplaces all you can do is contact SS this has happened to us a few times we usually upload all info from the off including invoices and images. Sometimes its easy and it gets done straight away other times it takes weeks.

Thanks both.
I am thinking I will have to go with Tomahawk’s suggestion - as I have raised a case and they have come back asking for a ton of information (essentially they have misready my case, twice, thinking I am trying to create a new listing - when in fact the listing already exists).
In this case, there’s 53 others sellers and I am guessing all 53 have not had this problem (or maybe they have and I am just being naieve) - it just frustrates me to no end that SS don’t seem to ready ANYTHING you list in the fault, no matter how much detail you give.
All I got back was “I see you’re having problems creating a product listing - please provide the following” and listed a ton of things like barcode, pictures, etc etc. I went back with the ASIN (again) and said I am NOT trying to create a new listing, simply be one of the 53 other people selling on it. They then came back with “I see you’re having an issue when trying to add a product, please provide the following” and just asked for the EXACT same info again!
It genuinely worries me, when we pay all this money to Amazon in fees, along with our monthly subscription, and you can’t even get basic first line support. I am only a few months in and already getting concerned that if I had something major happen, it wouldn’t get resolved.
Apologies - end rant!

The listings your trying to edit - did you both create the original listings?

Sorry it began 15/08. Kind of resolved 22/08.

We have also had this problem.
We believe the issue is down to the EAN/UPC not being issued by the brand you are selling. Amazon is looking up who has issued the EAN/UPC and comparing it to the know EAN/UPC ranges of the brand listed.
Our issue is down to the fact that the manufacturer in question does not issue a EAN/UPC for the range of items we sell (although they do for the majority of their goods). All the ASIN’s we sell were created years ago with seller EAN/UPC’s. These do not match with the manufacturers EAN/UPC and Amazon is therefore not allowing you to edit the product data.
No solution so far, but it’s becoming a bigger and bigger problem

I have had the same issue a few times and SS have resolved it (shock) around half have been down to the brand name needing to be case sensitive (all for restricted brands) on the Basic Info Tab, which I find quite bizarre when adding to an existing listing.

I am getting this error on 19 of my products.
In each case I have successfully created an offer on the existing listing using the ‘Inventory Loader’ file so the item is in my Inventory with a SKU, but then when I try to update price and/or quantity I get error 5461 which as you say is all about creating a new ASIN - not updating just price and/or quantity on the offer,
I have been back and forth with CS for weeks - often with them asking for pictures of product showing EAN/Brand etc and giving me strange answers such as ‘The UPC 999999999 does not belong to this product’. For a start I am using EAN and not UPC and the EAN does match the product (I have no idea what the UPC should be as its often not printed on the product).
Latest response is:
‘We understand your concern is regarding error code 5461.
In the recent update, our team informed that according to their system records the brand name “XYZ” is associated with a GCOR that is registered to the brand name “ACME”,
Therefore, they requested you to reconfirm the brand name to proceed further with the investigation.’
(I have changed the actual brand names)
- Anyone know what GCOR is? Google search says it is either ‘General Code of Operating Rules’ or ‘Global Conference on Operation Risk’ and neither makes any sense
- I buy from a manufacture that is licensed to make products for several brands (all film/tv/book related). The manufacture has even supplied me with excerpts from the contracts they have with the companies who owns the brands to prove they are licensed to produce the items and these have been forwarded to Amazon. So Manufacturer is ‘XYZ’ and Brand could be one of several different ones.
- The manufacturer is not tied to one Brand and the Brand may be made under license by several Manufacturers. So Brand should not be tied to a particular set of EAN’s - as each Manufacturer will have their own EAN’s. But it seems like Amazon are expecting a Brand to be made by one Manufacturer only.
So with me Manufacturer could be ‘XYZ’ but Brand could be ‘DC Comics’ (licensed from the company Warner Bros) or Brand could be ‘Star Wars’ (licensed from the company Disney) etc etc but Amazon seem incapable of accepting this sort of system.
Strangely though it does not happen on all my products from ‘XYZ’ just on certain ones.
