Ridiculous delivery times for international mail
Is it just me or is anyone else seeing excessive delivery times for international mail.
We sent an item to Sweden on 6th March, it took until midnight on the 10th to be received at LANGLEY HWDC IPS which then stated “Item Leaving the UK”.
Then on 16th March it was received at STOCKHOLM UTRIKES, Sweden and has sat there ever since. It’s with customs apparently, but we have registered with EORI, printed the custom label out that our OBA generated, signed and dated it, included all tariff codes, prices, etc and the only thing we didn’t do (or haven’t done) is register for IOSS so do anticipate VAT being charged to the customer which we understand could be the reason for it’s delay in Sweden so far.
However, Royal Mail had taken 4 days to have the parcel taken from Glasgow to Langley and now a further 6 days from Langley to Sweden!. A total of 10 days so far and European mail is quoted as taking 3-5 working days !
Is it me just not seeing the woods for the tree’s or is this an unacceptable delay?

Yes I am seeing this as well but there are also ongoing strikes in Europe with posts and customs.
You don’t really tend to hear news about strikes abroad unless you make specific enquiries. I was told that there have been strikes causing delays in a number of key European areas definitely Germany and this has caused considerable backlogs and delays in National mail.
I agree that just getting it to the UK airport in the UK seems to add quite a few days on though.

I have rarely seen mail to European countries take less than 2 weeks, even before the “cyber attack” in January. Even the UK 24 service for parcels or large letters has been taking well over a week in many areas
Call me suspicious, but European countries seem to treat UK mail with great disdain these days. Brexit based revenge?? Who knows…
Shipments I sent to beyond Europe (Middle East/Australia) in January are just starting to arrive.
Of course the buyers think we are just messing around with their orders, and the marketplaces are not much help

It’s imports too.
I received a parcel from Australia last week. According to Australia Post, it landed in the UK on 26 Feb yet was only received at RM facility on 13 March.
There is apparently a shortage of aircraft to and from Australia however this cannot be the cause of the import delay So fifteen days in limbo somewhere between landing, customs and RM. I then received it the next day, the 14th.Clearly packages are sitting around doing nothing at various points.
On the flip side, I sent a package to Australia on 21 Feb it was shown as cleared and awaiting departure from UK on 23 Feb yet only arrived in Australia on 17 Match (Three weeks later).
