Can I move my existing product into the Handmade catergory?

I have a very successful product listed in the main Amazon catalogue (before Handmade was available). It has very good reviews and is consistently one of the top items in its category. Is it possible to convert this item to Handmade (it is) and keep all of the good reviews, etc. Or will I have to bite the bullet and create a new handmade listing for the product? If it is the latter I may just decide to leave it in the main catalogue.

Any help appreciated.

Unfortunately you’ll have to bite the bullet and make a new listing :frowning:

I have had the same problem myself. Moved most of my listings, but kept a few in normal Amazon category as they were selling too well to start over.

Hi there Eden_Girfts _Candles1

Lydia here from Handmade at Amazon UK.

The short answer is that a seller cannot move/copy an existing ASIN from one category to the Handmade category. As product reviews are ASIN linked, this also means that product reviews cannot be moved over either.

The same item cannot be listed in two separate categories. Listings have to be newly created under Handmade and I would like to expand on that.
The good news is that Handmade listings are automatically brand protected under the Artisan Profile brand, and artisans can list their items without having to provide a product identifier. Consequently this removes the need to apply for Brand Registry and/or EAN exemption.

Some existing sellers choose to keep extablished listings with product reviews in their usual category and use Handmade to list new products that have yet to be established on the catalogue.
Note: it is important to remember the possible impact this may have on the subscription fee promotion applied to handmade accounts - see the terms and conditions applied:

Hi there

Lydia from Handmade at Amazon for UK here just to confirm that an existing ASIN cannot be moved to the Handmade category. I would like to expand on that.

If you are currently selling in a different category and those items meet the criteria for Handmade, you can re-list them under Handmade category.
However, these items can only be listed in one category so you would need to delete the original listing that you re-list under Handmade. Any product reviews on an existing ASIN cannot be moved to a new ASIN.

When you re-list under Handmade, you would have to use a new SKU as you cannot re-use SKUs. It is not possible to merge or copy over your ASIN to handmade.
This is due to the different features of customization available under Handmade. I hope it is reassuring to know that handmade items are automatically brand protected under the Artisan Profile brand, and artisans can list their items without have to provide a product identifier. Consequently this removes the need to apply for Brand Registry and/or EAN exemption.

Sellers with existing items sometimes use Handmade to test/try out a new listing where product reviews are not affected and keep the existing listing under the non-handmade category.
Note: the subscription fee promtion may be affected by sales outside of Handmade.
