Customer claims we shipped wrong item
I sell Electronics, customer purchased an item over £600 two days later contacts us to say we’ve shipped the wrong model, Asked for images etc… model they claimed to have received is worth £200 at best. After checking all our inventory in case there was an error when shipping I declined the refund request, they’ve put in a A to Z claim which has been ‘temporarily withdrawn’ Amazon asked me to accept the return which I did, item received is a much older model which is totally worn out. Which proves even if I shipped the wrong model it would never be so worn out. This customer is clearly abusing the system. Have messaged to let them know we won’t be refunding this order and asked them to take this up with customer services. They will most likely reopen the AZ claim.
Has anyone experienced anything similar to this and what was the outcome ?

The common switcharoo claim. Their mistake was buying from a FBM seller. If it was FBA, they would probably get away with it.
If they raise an A TO Z, take photos of the item stating clearly that they have sent back a different model. If the claim is awarded, you may have to fight it but assume it will be ok to begin with.
