Does your amazon Business name (Cog / Account Info / Business Information / Identify Information) match the name on the gov.uk VAT checker?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out. I completely understand how frustrating it is to deal with this, especially after 10 years of smooth VAT compliance.

Since you have already sent your VAT certificate to vat-number-appeals@amazon.com and have not heard back, a couple of things worth checking in the meantime:

  • Make sure your VAT number shows as valid on the HMRC VAT checker.
  • Confirm the company name on your certificate matches exactly what is listed under Settings > Account Info > Business Information in Seller Central.

If everything looks correct and you still have not received a response, following up with Seller Support via Seller Central and referencing your original email and the date it was sent would be the best next step.

Best regards,

Yujiro

I have never been able to have Amazon accept my VAT number . I have spoken to HMRC and they were familiar with the issue from multiple contacts.

Don't waste your time with vat-number-appeals@amazon.com .

Some of the replies from Amazon show they are unfamiliar with VAT and have no intention of learning.

This has probably been said already, but double check what the company name is EXACTLY showing on your VAT certificate and cross-check it. This includes capital letters, and if it uses 'Limited' or 'Ltd' (as this was what caused our rejection. - it needs to be EXACT, as they are probably just using an ignorant AI to check them.

We've had the exact same issues, with knock-on effects which then mean we have to upload invoices manually. We have copied and pasted the exact wording from the gov.uk checker, and still after a while the system throws us back out. Green ticks and approved shows all over our account, but still we get warning messages.

I found it far easier to change my vat registration details to match what is on Amazon which HMRC accepted straight away.

Asking Amz to update to match HMRC is like pulling your own teeth out
