90244: We can't accept the count you entered for Unit Count.

"We can't accept the count you entered for Unit Count. To fix this, select an approved value from the list for your product category and resubmit."

There is only one option to choose from for Unit Count Type which is "pair" (spelt all lowercase which suggests an error with the flat file as all other options for the other drop down boxes start with a capital letter). Every number I enter for for the number of pairs (Unit Count) comes up with this error.

I submitted a listing in the same category a couple of weeks ago, which included these attributes and it worked fine, so I'm guessing there has been a change made by Amazon which is causing this error.

Can anyone help me?

Thank you in advance.

I would compare this new listing against the listing you created a couple of weeks ago that worked. Check whether the product type, category/browse node, and required attributes are exactly the same. Amazon may be applying a different template or validation rule.

If the category and product type are the same, try testing the Unit Count fields only: set Unit Count Type to pair and enter the actual number of pairs in Unit Count, for example 1 if the product is one pair. If that still triggers 90244, the issue is probably not your number but a template validation mismatch — the form is offering pair, but the backend validator is rejecting the related Unit Count value.

In that case, I would open a case asking Seller Support to confirm whether Unit Count is genuinely required for that exact product type, or whether the category template has a validation error.

Hi @Seller_ikiMekfwSsiv3,

Thank you for reaching out to us. I've reviewed your case (125542934--) and the investigation results.

The issue has been identified as error code 90244, which occurs when the value entered is not recognized as valid by the system.

To resolve this:

  • Ensure you are entering a whole number integer for Unit Count (e.g., "1", "2", "3" — not "1.0" or decimal values)
  • Select "pair" as the Unit Count Type
  • If submitting via flat file, confirm the value format matches the template requirements exactly

If the error persists after trying the above, please reply to your existing case with the exact value you're entering and a screenshot of the error, and the team can investigate further.

Best,

Kai

I think it might be a category template / validation issue rather than a number-format issue.

The important point is that you have already tried the available option. If the listing form only offers `pair` as the Unit Count Type, and whole-number values are still rejected, then Seller Support should not treat this as simply “enter the correct number”.

I would mention in your support case that the same category/product type worked a couple of weeks ago but now fails. That may suggest a recent catalogue template, allowed-value list, or backend validation-rule change.

I would ask Seller Support to check whether the Unit Count Type values shown in the listing form are synchronised with the backend validator for that exact product type/category.

The key question is:

Why does Amazon show `pair` as an approved Unit Count Type if every whole-number Unit Count entered with `pair` is rejected by error 90244?

I would send screenshots showing:

1. `pair` as the only available Unit Count Type;

2. the whole-number Unit Count you entered;

3. the 90244 error message;

4. the product type/category;

5. if possible, the older listing in the same category that previously worked.

That should make it clearer that the issue is not user input, but that the seller currently has no valid selectable path to complete the listing.

Hi @Seller_ikiMekfwSsiv3,

Thank you for your patience. Our specialist team is currently working with an internal team to investigate the error 90244 issue with the "unit_count" value in your file uploads. They are actively looking into this and will follow up as soon as more information is available.

Best,

@Seller_ikiMekfwSsiv3

This looks very similar to another recent Unit Count / 90244 issue affecting shoe inserts or insole-type listings.

The important point is that the error may not be caused by the number you entered.

From what you described, the seller-facing workflow shows only one Unit Count Type option — “pair” — but every Unit Count value you enter is rejected.

That creates a contradiction:

- the seller-facing workflow appears to show “pair” as the approved Unit Count Type;

- the seller selects the only available value;

- the backend validator still returns 90244;

- the error then tells the seller to select an approved value from the list, even though the seller already selected the only visible option.

That suggests a possible template / validation mismatch, not a normal data-entry mistake.

The fact that you successfully submitted a listing in the same category a couple of weeks ago is also important evidence. It suggests something may have changed in the product-type template or validation rule after your previous successful upload.

@Kai_Amazon

Could the internal team please check whether the current UK listing workflow / template for this exact product type is aligned with the backend validator?

The useful questions are:

1. Is “pair” currently a valid Unit Count Type for this exact product type?

2. If yes, why does the backend validator reject submissions with 90244?

3. If no, why is “pair” shown as the only selectable value to the seller?

4. What exact combination is currently accepted for:

- Unit Count

- Unit Count Type

- number_of_items

- item_package_quantity, if applicable

5. Was there a recent product-type template or validation-rule update affecting this category?

Simply advising sellers to enter a whole number and select “pair” may not resolve the issue if sellers have already done that and the validator still rejects the listing.

This appears to need Catalogue / Product Type Template validation review rather than another generic Unit Count correction.

I have now run a controlled flat-file test on SHOE_INSERT / sole inserts.

The result suggests this may not simply be a seller input error.

Using the SHOE_INSERT template, I tested the Unit Count / Unit Count Type fields in the upload editor:

- Unit Count = 1, Unit Count Type = pair → flagged

- Unit Count = 1, Unit Count Type = count → flagged

- Unit Count = 1, Unit Count Type = gram → flagged

- Unit Count blank, Unit Count Type blank → both fields flagged

This is important because “count” is the usual suggested workaround, and “gram” appears in the template example row, but both were still flagged in the upload editor.

So the issue now looks more like a SHOE_INSERT product-type template / upload validation mismatch, rather than a normal “select the right value” problem.

The useful support question may be:

“What exact Unit Count Type value is accepted for SHOE_INSERT, and is Unit Count required for this product type? At the moment, pair, count, gram, and blank are all being flagged in the upload editor.”

I would suggest opening a case asking for escalation to the team responsible for product type template / catalogue upload validation alignment, not just asking first-line support how to fill the field.

Hi,

I have the exact same issue.

Did you manage to find a resolution? I've contacted seller support multiple times and they couldn't help me.

It just seems that it can't accept 'pair' not matter what number I put in.

If you have any advice that would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

Kai

@Seller_ikiMekfwSsiv3

- the seller-facing workflow appears to show “pair” as the approved Unit Count Type;

- the seller selects the only available value;

- the backend validator still returns 90244;

@Kai_Amazon

- Unit Count = 1, Unit Count Type = count → flagged

Hi,

I have the exact same issue.

Did you manage to find a resolution? I've contacted seller support multiple times and they couldn't help me.

It just seems that it can't accept 'pair' not matter what number I put in.

If you have any advice that would be greatly appreciated.
