FBA from Ireland worth it?
Hi all,
I just signed up yesterday and apart from figuring out all the technical details (e.g. how can I change GBP to Euro on the app?) my most basic question is “Is this worth it?”.
Given that I live in Dublin I thought there might be some way I could only sell products within Ireland (EU). But having read a lot on this forum and website over the last few days I realise that that isn’t how it works. Basically, I’d have to ship all my products to the UK, and Amazon would ship them back to Ireland, incurring whatever the customs costs are (possibly twice?), which probably makes it not worth it ultimately. I’ve been really inspired by various FBA resllers from the UK on social media, so disappointed to see the same business model isn’t really feasible in Ireland.
So my first question is: does that sound about right, or am I missing something?
My plan is to keep this account rather than delete it, keep browsing the forums and learning about it in the hope that it some other possibilities will emerge in the future. There are some news reports that Amazon is going to build a fulfillment center in Ireland this year, which could lead to Amazon.ie, and that would make the FBA model much more feasible for people like me.
So I have an individual rather than a professional account. My second question is - are Amazon going to charge me any fees if I keep the account open just for browsing the forums and learning about how it works but don’t actually sell anything?

You do mean “selling plan”, don’t you? A selling plan is not an account type.

For a start, if you only signed up yesterday then your account will not be verified, and that could take some time !
If you have the Individual Selling PLAN, then you will not be charged any fees (it is the Professional plan that is charged at £30 a month), but be aware that is different from the Individual ACCOUNT - which is the account typ for selling off your own persoanl second-hand items.
If you plan to buy items to sell on for profit then you must have a BUSINESS seller account.

Take no notice - none - of any YouTube videos you’ve seen or of anything you’ve read on the multitudinous websites and blogs whose primary function is to act as clickbait and which are chock full of misinformation.
Browsing the forums is the best way to inform yourself, once you’ve been through the Amazon Seller University, which is an essential first step for any new seller.
I may have misunderstood your question, but I’m not sure why you would want Amazon to ship your products back to Ireland for you. Surely the point would be to sell them in the UK. Likewise if you sent your products to FBA in Europe.
If you delete your account, you will never be permitted to open another one.
There is no charge for browsing the forums. They are open to the general public. Anyone can read them, although only sellers can post in them.
