SEPA B2B Paying French VAT

Hi
We are UK based and Also VAT registered in France. We have been unable to find a Euro account that offers SEPA B2B. Paying French VAT by SEPA Credit incurs a €60 fee each time from the French government. Has anyone got round this?

Hi
We have been putting a lot of effort into finding a solution. If you have a turnover of a few million a year there may be options. Some banks may initially say yes then quaify - corporate customers only eg Nat West.

We wish you luck - please let us know if you find a solution.

We have been looking too

Our Santander account don’t offer the service

We contacted transferwise, and they said they are actively looking at offering SEPA B2B in the future.

SEPA B2B what I have learned to date – also a suggestion

To summarise what I have learned to date (Note: cannot be totally sure of information from others from forums). A note based on our experience – if contacting a bank make sure that they know if you are a small business. Many banks do offer SEPA B2B but only to customers who meet their criteria. SEPA core (which is no use for paying French VAT is readily available.

Starling bank – SEPA Core only (own experience)

Payoneer – does not offer any SEPA direct debit (contacted last year)

Nat West / RBS / Ulster bank – to corporate customers only (own communications they charge is £5 per debit)

Lloyds – not to small business (forums)

Barclays – not to small business (forums)

HSBC - not to small business (forums)

Transferwise - not to small business (forums)

Please add to this list

Suggestion

Contact Amazon – raise case – make suggestion. Amazon will not be concerned simply because small sellers are losing on extra VAT payment costs. It may be concerned if it thinks this is a deterrent for its sellers to register for French VAT or even deregister. It could also make money by facilitating or providing a payment service and charging say €10 or €20 Euro a time (it is better than €60).

For sellers with <€4000 French VAT a year I understand from Alavara that after being on monthly VAT for a while you can switch to quarterly.

We are still looking for a SEPA B2B solution and suggest continuing to share what we learn. If a bank does decide to offer the service it could gain a significant number of customers.

No we are currently paying via our accountant who charges €40. We will be moving to VAT services on Amazon soon to save high fees. An attempt to pay by SEPA Core failed. Account details were not accepted. This was an account we had opened for the purpose not knowing it was SEPA B2B.
