Feature Offer Removed Due To Pricing?

Good Morning fellow sellers,

We’ve received an email this morning from Amazon stating one of our FBA listings is not eligible to be the featured offer. They state our price £4.95 is not competitive to prices found off of Amazon, and suggesting we sell at £2.82.

Now we’re a little confused how this has happened as the FBA fee excluding the commission is £2.43 currently (Not including shipping from ourselves, storage, returns, monthly selling fee). How does Amazon expect us to sell this low? We’ve searched the web and cant even find this offer from any other business.

Has anyone else ran into this issue, if so did you get it resolved without selling at a loss?

Thank you all in advance.

Lewis

When i go to your product page Amazon is suggesting another page that has the same size and quantity for £3.14. That offer is FBM though and i don’t know whether Amazon compare against “similar” items. I thought i had read they do but can’t find it now.

I know someone recently got Support to remove the suggested price and let them list at the price they wanted. Likely to be an uphill battle, but if you need a hobby…

Have you considered small and light for these ? The fba fulfilment fee would only be £1.59 (new cost from Wednesday) and there’s still the chance there will be next day delivery on them if there is stock near a buyer

Happened to one of my listings. I’m importing this branded toy directly form brand owner in China.
Expected price should be £16.99, selling at £21.99. The same toy is sold by Smyths outside of Amazon for £16.99. They do not take into consideration delivery from Smyths £2.99 for items below £20. Don’t care I have to pay £6.48 FBA fee on Amazon (£3.12 fulfilment), and other costs related to selling FBA. This is something new on the platform.
Conclusion: Amazon made a decision not to sell products at all if there is lower price outside of the platform. Maybe I’m to stupid, but where is a bonus out of this move?

I think the problem is that Amazon do not take into account postage costs, I know we purchase this size bag regularly, and pay 0.75 / 100 inclusive of VAT, and get free same day delivery as we purchase 30,000 bags at a time of varying sizes.

If you just look at it Black and White without considering postage, bulk pricing etc, then it will look like 4.89 is expensive.

Agree with others totally flawed logic from Amazon, and we too lose a lot of listing visibility for very similar reasons.

Hello Thank you for you email.

Where have you pulled the competitive price from? I have searcdhed the whole web and cannot find this price anywhere nor the same product as ours? Does this price you have include shipping as we belive shipping is not included in the calculation from competitive price as it is to cheap if you include all of Amazonz fees to sell.

Look forwar to your reply

Hello from Amazon Selling Partner Support,

We understand that you want to know where we’ve pulled the competitive price from and if it includes shipping.
We know the importance of these issues for your Business and we’re more than glad to assist you with this.

Note that the Competitive Price is the lowest price for this item from other major retailers. It does not include the prices from other sellers in the Amazon store.

While we do not reveal the names of competitors, this list is reviewed regularly to ensure competitors are relevant for each country and product group.

The average selling price of a product is calculated based on the prices that customers have purchased in the last 60 days weighted by units sold. Prices and quantity sold during promotions (for example, Best Deals, Lightning Deals) are excluded.

The price by Amazon is the highest price listed for the product in the last 14 days that is delivered and sold by Amazon.

The per unit derived price is the price per unit of the Featured Offer from a smaller sized bundle for the same product multiplied by the number of units in your listing.

For more information on the list price, you can go to Amazon Policy on Reference Prices: https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/help/hub/reference/G202170370.

Note that we display the average selling price, price by Amazon and/or the product’s list price. For some products, we do not have those reference prices available.

For which concerns Featured Offer, Featured Offer qualifications apply to all sellers.
The Featured Offer percentage is calculated as the total page views in which you are the Featured Offer divided by the total page views received by products you list. Only active items are considered. You will see ‘–’ if we are unable to calculate your Featured Offer percentage.

Sales conversion rate is calculated as your total orders (minus returns) divided by the total page views received on products you list. You will see ‘–’ if we are unable to calculate your sales conversion rate.

The recent lower price is based on a range of factors including historical selling prices, recent Featured Offer eligible prices, the lowest price for this item from other major retailers and input from customers for your products.

Note that we have an Automate Pricing rules to ensure that your offers remain competitive.
You can use Automate Pricing to create a pricing rule to keep your selected offers competitive on an ongoing basis.

OK so it’s not just me then…

Amazon has made it a complete faff to purchase my product because it’s cheaper on my own website (without accounting for the P&P I charge, which would make it more expensive in total). Customers now have to click on “See All Buying Options” to see the FBA offer.

I am the brand owner and only seller - the ASIN has FBA and FBM offers but now it’s just more friction to make the purchase. It looks like the Subscribe and Save option has also disappeared.

Such a joke.

Now All listings hidden apart from one, How is it all should be sold at the same price regardless of quantity involved??

Where is the logic in this? Customer service are clueless telling us we have to remain competitive, our argument is we can but everything cant be the same price for different pack sizes. You cant buy 5 Ferrari’s for the price of one?! Or we missing something here?

These where selling like absolute hot cakes until this happened. Has anyone any idea of a mod that can assist in this as the customer service is shocking via email.
