1 day dispatch

As I knew would happen Amazon set the 1 day dispatch and my delivery rate has fallen below 90%. I can handle the 1 day dispatch, however the delivery time is no way accurate. I use 2nd class post, which is what I can only use for single purchases, to keep competitive and in business. Royal Mail 2nd class post takes 4-8 working days with no Saturday delivery, with exceptions. Amazon still say it will be delivered on that day not an estimation. Sure I can go into each item and change it to a 2 day dispatch but when you have 1000's of listings it's not an overnight project.

Hi @Seller_KJmU5xliSK0Bl

Please dont think this as a criticism, as I am genuinely trying to help.

I have found over many years on Amazon that it is not the platform for trying to compete on price. There are other platforms more suited to that.

I would think about other levers to increase your price such as FBA, branding, quality, packaging, images, advertising, multi units in a box etc etc. before I try to cut the costs of postage. If you are trying to get the cheap rate Royal Mail (or any other delivery) service) to perform to the Amazon customer expectation, I think you will ultimately fail. Both Amazon and their customers expect excellent products ordered today and delivered yesterday.

Competing on price is a race to the bottom and I would urge you to reconsider.

Also, 1000's of listings are only good on Amazon if they sell. If they sell, get them into FBA. If they dont sell, there is something wrong (if you dont mind me being brutal) and you will spend your days chasing down problems for no apparent gain.

Get products that sell and get them into FBA or that can support a decent delivery promise - or put them on another platform.

Just my thoughts, no offence to your clearly hard work.

As you probably know I sell the same type of products as you. I am different though in that I offer same day despatch if brought before 16:30. My On Time Delivery rate is currently 98%.

Here is how I do it. I use Royal Mail for all my items. I use SSA for my shipping templates. Letter and Large Letter post is brought through Amazon which has no impact on my OTDR if delivered late.

Tracked post is brought through Click and Drop. I no longer used tracked 48 on Amazon as this is not always delivered on time and impacts my OTDR. I now only used tracked 24 for Amazon items.

Amazon do need to do some work on 2nd class post with the new delivery model Royal Mail are rolling out. However many issues are with Royal Mail who constantly don't deliver within their delivery aim for 2nd class post.

Have you run your defect report to find out which items were delivered late and how they were sent?

Good advice in this thread, @Seller_KJmU5xliSK0Bl. @Seller_hnJy2He6uzeGX raises an important point about strategy beyond pricing alone, and @Seller_d8YGbIjNqwFxn has a practical breakdown of how to maintain a 98% delivery rate with Royal Mail using SSA templates and tracked 24.

If you already use SSA and Automated Handling time then buying your tracked 24 postage through Amazon would mean you are OTDR protected. Even if the item is delivered late your OTDR would not be impacted.
