Royal Mail late deliveries

So my account health is now down due to the royal mail been so rubbish atm.

The late delivery rate is now at 46%. but i dispatch everything the same day its purchased (till 4pm) and always send the items tracked 24/48 so thats not the issue as my valid tracking is 100%.

Is anyone else having the same issue and have any way to solve this problem ? Or a alternative company to the royal mail to use ?

If you're sending everything Tracked 24/48, your OTDR should be well over 90%.

We do the same and have never fallen below 99%.

Can you screen shot your account health page and your OTDR defect report and post them both here?

You should take a look at your shipping template as well and see if you're offering faster deliveries than you think.

Do you have SSA on or off?

How about Automated Handling time?

I dispatch everything Royal Mail Tracked 24.

And the service is absolutely awful! I have items that are scanned onto their Horizon system at the Post Office when I drop them off. I get a receipt.

Then the item either a) simply disappears and no further tracking or delivery, b) gets send half-way around the country to the wrong sorting offices, taking 5-7 days, then tracking says it will be delivered between such and such time on x day. Then it never is, and simply disappears again. or c) gets lost.

Understandably the customer gets annoyed. Amazon refunds them straightaway. So I'm out of pocket for the £3.54 24hr tracked postage, the loss of sale of the item, and a hacked off customer.

My OTDR has plummeted to 77% because of Royal Mail and I have 1 day added by Amazon. None of which is my fault.

Hi there @Seller_8Xp9cTWVbZlFt,

Do you get your labels via Buy Shipping? If not you may consider getting your shipping directly as it can help ensure you meet customer delivery promises. If you are I do recommend reviewing with Seller Support to try to see source of the tracking failure. Thank you for your understanding.

I use buy shipping with standard Royal Mail 48 service (CRL, not the fully tracked). My OTDR is 98.7%. I turned off automatic handling and set 2 day dispatch time. (However I do send everyday. I asumed that if customer get some sort of estimate delivery day based on 2 day handling when placing an order and if I send it quicker I have better chances on getting order 'on time'). Not sure if this is the right direction but so far it works and my OTDR is high enough. Lets see how it goes

as others have said we use tracked 24 and usually around 99%, when you say post office do you mean little post office? we have to either drop ours at the sorting office directly or have them picked up by RM, and are they all bagged up with a tracked 24 label on or individual? our bag gets picked up all scanned in around same time a few hours later at the bigger regional sorting office and then trackable all the way, hope u get it sorted

This is very unusual, most people's expereince is that Royal Mail is very reliable (especally first class post).

I wonder if the issue is where you are dropping them off? if it's a Post Office, that could create a delay, especially if dropped off towards the end of the working day.

If you are dropping off at a Post office, then could you switch to dropping off at a Depot/sorting office?

Check your shipped one of your shipped orders. Under the shipped date, there will be the shipping service - my one always comes up as Std UK Dom_1 although I always use RM24.

This is what is making my rate so low.

There are lots of problems with the RM website at the moment with numerous reports of their tracking checker not working.

If it's this bad now, what it will it be like in the immediate run up to Christmas?

Hi @Seller_8Xp9cTWVbZlFt,

All I can think of adding is to the previous comments is:

  • Did you set the maximum transit time you could or did you set it shorter for the orders causing you issues?
  • Do you have the option to use another carrier that would deliver quicker (and/or have less performance issues)?
  • You could also consider using the OTDR exemption solution which is : HT of 0-1 day or AHT + buyshipping + SSA

Take care.
