Trade mark/ product ID

Hello, I’m trying to add my first product product and need a Product ID. Opted to register w Amazon Brand Registry programme but one needs a formal Trade Mark regged w UK’s Intellectual Property office - £220 a pop. Can I just buy an EAN online and provide that instead?
Thanks!

No, to be Brand registered you need to be the owner or rights holder of the trademark. You can also be granted user permission from them.

Amazon Do Not Enforce

Barcode, EAN, or UPC Infringement: Barcodes, EANs, and UPCs are used to store product information such as pricing and inventory levels. These codes do not carry intellectual property protection.

Ok. I see, that makes sense. I am actually not sure anymore if I have been granted an exemption. When I click on “check GTIN exemption status” it doesn’t really list one but then it also says “you can start listing” on another page. I have attached a few screenshots. I guess I need to reg on GS1. Thank you so much for your help!
