Would you be happy if your business allowed serious errors and nothing was ever done?

Here we go again, 5 products this morning that contain errors in the Amazon listing, this time it is a Sheaffer pen,it says rollerball in the title and the image is a ballpoint, Amazon refuse to accept the evidence that the title is wrong and roll out the same old story that 'only the person who created the listing can amend it' so no matter what appears in the listing it stays the same, it could be a picture of a bra and they would still refuse to do anything about it.

The only reason that I am posting this is for me to keep a record of it, so far I have a list of over 300 products that contain serious errors, either wrong colour, wrong description, wrong image and it is not only third party listings, there are many Amazon listings that are also incorrect and that is why their returns are so high, the warehouses are bursting with returns and they actively promote the sales of full cheap returns pallets for sale of items that have been returned because they were different to the listing.

A business that allows this to happen has serious issues and who knows what else is wrong in the business based on the performance and quality of the catalogue.

Here is another one, wrong image , wrong description, wrong colour, ballpoint in the picture, rollerball in the description

, blue pen, black in the title, total and utter incompetence from the Amazon catalogue team who I assume are no longer there.

Not really, if you are in the pen business, it is actually chalk and cheese and sending a ballpoint instead of a rollerball or vice versa is not acceptable.

Do you know who added them?

Is the Brand holder the one that added them and can be contacted?

I agree though, it used to be far better before the origininator was the only one allowed to alter the listing (since Brand registry though, even if you as teh Seller added the listing, notice an error, to be corrected, you may not be able to change the listing any longer)

It wouldn't matter who listed it, seller support no longer have any ability to contact the catalogue team, who I believe have been disbanded, so you can talk as much as you like to seller support, they can do nothing and have no way of speaking to anyone that knows anything about product listings.

About 30% of the Amazon catalogue has serious errors and I know for a fact due to my efforts over the last 18 months, nothing can be done, nobody cares and there is no route to speak or contact anyone that can do anything about it.

EVEN if you pay the extortionate £1500 a month to have an account manager all they do is sell you advertising, prime deals and FBA, they refuse to assist in amending listings or assisting with buyer issues, so as seller support is not fit for purpose then it is Catch 22 and nothing will ever change.

This is costing Amazon millions in lost revenue and returns and yet nobody cares, that will probably come as no surprise to anyone selling on here.

Hi, I think you may be a bit out of touch as this does not apply any longer, since seller support now have no means of contacting the so called catalogue team they are unable to process any request to change a attribute as they have nobody to forward it to.

They have written on their Amazon 'Google' screen to read the following to the seller:

'Only the entity that created the listing has the ability to amend the listing, if you did not create the listing or are not the brand owner then the listing cannot be amended'

So there you go, that is why 30% of the Amazon catalogue has errors and it is an embarrassment to Amazon, millions of listings appear on Amazon and sellers list them from the barcode regardless of who created them, so if you created the listing you would make sure it was correct, but as 99% of listings were created by someone else, then nothing is ever going to happen.

Amazon's current policy does distinguish between brand owners and resellers when it comes to catalog attribute updates. If you're the brand owner and registered through Amazon Brand Registry, you do have more direct control over your listings, including the ability to update attributes, than a reseller would.

However, sellers who are not the brand owner or the original listing creator do have a path to updating incorrect information. The path requires submitting a case through Seller Support with supporting proof (like a manufacturer's website or product photo).

Report inaccurate product info directly on the detail page: scroll down and select "Report an issue with this product or seller" → "Some product information is missing, inaccurate or could be improved."

Contact Seller Support via the "Fix a Product Page" option in Seller Central: this is the recommended path when listing information is clearly incorrect and affecting the customer experience.

I have been trying this for over 5 years and I can assure you that nothing gets done, yes you fill in the form and give them the details, but they never do anything about it for the simple reason that they do not have the ability to change listings.

I also have it confirmed from seller support that they no longer have contact with any Amazon departments, so they have nowhere to forward these requests, they only have their computer that they enter questions and copy and paste the answers, so how do you expect anything to be amended when seller support cannot do it and they have no mechanism to forward it to anyone who can?

Maybe it is time Amazon actually looked into their systems instead of copying and pasting old information from their 'Amazon Google' which has not been updated.

If you have facts on anything different I would be delighted to hear it, but the fact that 30% of the Amazon catalogue has errors and has done for years that cannot be fixed kind of backs up what I have said and have had confirmed.

The problem here is that you're trusting that that seller support worker was correct and told you the truth.

At the very least, they're able to forward info about atoz claims to the account health team, so they have at least some contact.

My guess is that that seller support worker either didn't know how to do it, or didn't want an open case on their stats.

I have to agree with you on this, i dont know if there is anything that can be done, but ive had the same issue, no matter what proof i provide they say the same thing, it can be items that are actually incorrect, or an item that is sopposed to be sold as an indiviual and the person listed it as a case, even though the case and the indiviual have diffrent QR code and product info,

It seems to be amazon dont care, and its good to know that the issue is as bad as this, meand we need to be extra extra cerful as amazon will not be

I have also experienced the same problem trying to get listing errors corrected. In the last 5 years I managed to get one image changed and I think that was more luck than judgement. One example was an Amazon software update that overnight managed to change the listing of a good selling CD set to be described as an LP (10" album, 33 1/3 rpm)...never been able to get that changed back...🙄

I also have it confirmed from seller support that they no longer have contact with any Amazon departments
