Is this a scam or really the most weird customer interaction ever for us?

so the conversation below is for an item ordered today ie 16/6/20 at 930 am. standard delivery etc.
i am not sure what to say or do and we have been on amazon for 6 years…we send everything currently UPS merchant fulfilled and delivery is £4.99 and the item was £17

Hello I was told by a member of the amazon customer care they were asking for you to refund the delivery cost if you have a problem with that please take it up with them, I spoke to someone called Jane, I hope that helps. hi the only thing i can do is refund the order. it was ordered today so will go tomorrow i cannot take anything up with amazon and amazon cannot ask us to take shipping off apologies but i will have to cancel the order in that case thanks tony

No please send it out. I need it and don’t have time to wait for a refund. Amazon have asked sellers to refund delivery on other Occasions for me and other people so I know that not true. They have been able to do so and they have been able to check with amazon. And as a seller on amazon you have must have contact with them so I don’t believe that either. It was order in the very early hours of the morning, you’ve have the order for over 17 hours and the fact the delivery cost that much is crazy. All my other orders have been sent. Unless you’ve had thousands of orders I find it hard to believe you couldn’t get it sent out today. Thank you for your time.

You have the option to refund delivery or the cost of delivery as a concession so you could actually do it.

Hi,
you have 2 options really,
either up your price to cover postage and make your items free post as most sales go to sellers with free post anyway.
Or option 2 give the buyer the postage back and don’t forget to send him/her your car keys / house keys and deeds as compensacion.

That is a joke! People just don’t have any shame! The messages are clearly visible to any employee in Amazon and the fact they still say all of this and know they can get away with it is frankly appalling. I just so sick of people trying this on, we will never give in just on principle so well done for sticking to your guns! :clap::clap::clap::clap:

I mean you need to report the buyer and make sure you report it as feedback extortion and report the message as ‘The buyer is trying to deceive or defraud me’.

They had no right to ask for the shipping to be refunded even before the order shipped- you did right cancelling. I would just ignore any further messages they might send, reporting each one as it comes. Hopefully they won’t try ordering again.

I don’t know why you got into a discussion about it.

Just say you don’t do free shipping and that’s it.

You don’t have to justify yourself.
