Invalid Barcodes - Listing Take Down

I have had a few listings taken down over night as the EAN does not match the brand in the GS1 database.

These are licensed products which always gives Amazon a problem and I have had these incorrectly removed before but have always had 30 days notice that they will be removed which gives me enough time to resolve the issue or to give up and ensure that any stock I have is sold through.

This time I had no notice, there was nothing at Risk yesterday as I check every day.

Have they now removed the 30 days notice period for this? As this can cause me problems going forward…

Full error message from Amazon

This ASIN has GTIN codes that do not match the brand associated to the ASIN. GTIN codes are reliable data that are used to limit duplicate products in the catalogue and ensure product authenticity. We verify the authenticity of GTINs by checking the GS1 database and GTINs that do not match information in GS1 are considered invalid. We recommend obtaining your GTINs directly from GS1 (and not from other third parties selling GTIN licences) to ensure the appropriate information is reflected in the GS1 database. If you believe we have removed your ASIN in error, contact Selling Partner Support here. Repeatedly creating ASINs for brands you do not have a relationship with will result in the removal of ASIN creation abilities

yes we have had a range removed for exactly the same reasons - we have reached out to the supplier as we cannot edit anything of course. Was a bit of a shock to see our buy box cut by approx 450 ASINS!

I don’t think this is an issue with licenced products. I have previously had some taken down (without warning).

It has been where I have listed against a previously created ASIN but the person who created it used their own barcode instead of one belonging to the brand.

As always when Amazon implements things there is damage. In my case I sell toys and it is not unusual for an item to come in different colours with the same barcode. I used to sell a yoyo that came in red, black and blue all with the same EAN. Someone had produced listings for each colour but they all got pulled. Now the only listing is for ‘colour selected at random’. Which parent is going to buy from that listing? I got loads of returns and loads of emails asking for specific colours.

I just stopped selling it and it now appears everyone has. So who has won?
