Age verification for Third party sellers NOT Amazon fullfilled

Id like to know how other sellers on this platform (NOT AMAZON FULLFILLED) Are doing their age verification for age restricted products.

As we all know amazon does not have a software link to a proper age verification system like ebay does which results in tons of people underage buying age restricted products Apart from us where we do it manually through a third party software that age verifies. This results in negative cancelation rates on our account.

Royal mail charge silly amounts of money to check buyers age upon delivery the same as other carriers so id like to know how other sellers are doing it to be cost effective while being competitive with prices.

Amazon need a better age checking system so that underage people cannot order items but i also think they should have a partner programme that works the same as ebay with verify my age.

What are other peoples thoughts on this?

I believe from what I’ve read, regardless of age verification for purchase, you still need an age verification courier and have to factor that into your costs

Presumably all your competitors have to do it too so therefore delivery charges must be similar for everyone

We use RM for our age verification, I can’t remember the exact cost but I think for us it’s Tracked 48 plus signature plus 2.50. Our items (utility knife) for av are typically £20. Your profit margins might not be great but I feel it’s better than just sitting with the money tied up. I completely agree with Kris, regardless of av for the purchase it’s still necessary for delivery, as long as you’re doing what’s necessary.

I’ve ordered alcohol on Amazon under 18 knowing they’ll deliver it regardless, few years ago now like however friends who have recently turned 18 have had the same experience, I don’t feel they cover their responsibility to not deliver/not sell to under 18s but as a third party seller you do what you can to not allow aka av delivery.
