I’ve sold second hand video games on Amazon for years and increasingly now I need approval for my ASINS.
The evidence needed is that not only I bought from a wholesaler, but that I’ve bought in bulk. I do not purchase my items this way. I can appreciate that for NEW items, but it won’t even let me list in used or collectable?
This is rediculous. Why are Amazon preventing me listing this way more and more. I’m a small seller, but everything is genuine.
Thanks
This is the result of Amazon's blanket approach to all items, both new & second-hand. I can understand the requirement to get approval for certain branded items to root out inauthentic / hookey products, but to apply the same criteria to used media like DVDs, books & videos is too heavy-handed & inflexible. They don't seem to understand that once a book etc has been sold by the primary seller you can do what you wish with it, including selling it on, without restrictions
The same thing is happening in the other media categories - books, DVDs,CDs. Often have to get approval with some publishers, but if you are selling second-hand items it is just not possible - yes, crazy. I just sell elsewhere.

I'm going through all my current active listings I made years ago of home media items (dvd's etc).
Most I find that now need approval / legal documentation are ones that are branded "WB" (I assume that means the Warner Brothers company - and those I found affected are definitely Warner Brothers movies etc).
Anyway, only some totally random "WB" listings are affected - there are plenty of other "WB" products that anyone can sell on. Certainly for home media products, it is NEVER the home media Company requesting Amazon to limit / stop their products being sold on their site.
THE FAULT IS ALWAYS AMAZON (SOMEWHERE)
Like: broken programming, or unnecessary changes / updates to Amazons system without bothering to check test or think things through (like the illogical introduction of approval to sell 2nd hand products for some brands), etc.
One really annoying thing I find, is where we created active product listings (never originally needing approval), then later they get changed to require approval so we can't edit the listings, however the listings still show as active on the listing pages and in our inventories. Are these listings still properly active (despite not being able to edit them)? This is another example of what I was saying above about broken programming and not bothering to check things.
Oh and get this - some months ago when I first discovered some of my listings were needing approval, for most I got approval with just one click without needing to provide legal documents! But now Amazon have been messed them up again, so now they force the legal documents requirement nonsense on us. Sigh.
Total control!
As JillyB says "sell else where"!
This platform has become more a place where you work more, earn less
Wait what? They now officially accept Amazon invoices to prove supply chain???
I understand your pain, been selling soon to be 10 years and now they are doing this on alot of our best sellers. Now it feels like a lottery if they accept the invoices or not even though its from either a UK distributor or manufacture lol
Like most things now with Amazon, it depends if there having a good day or bad one if they allow you or not.
Before a selling history meant something, now it means close to nothing.
IMPORTANT DISCOVERY!!!
I wanted to list for sale some random home media products some months ago, but I couldn't because Amazon added the need for approval for them (they never originally needed approval going many years further back). Well anyway, I've been double checking all products I have and want to sell, and it seems several no longer need approval! Although I don't know how or why they no longer need approval.
So it might take many months, but some listing pages that need approval now might not in the future. Of course, I wouldn't bet on it being that simple where Amazon is concerned, but still it is an interesting discovery.
