Using flat file to delete and reinstate an ASIN
Hi,
I’ve had an ASIN search suppressed for around a month and am slowly getting to the root of the issue.
The ASIN is suppressed because it is missing a main image but whichever way a try to update the images, it fails. If I try to do this via the Fix a Product Page and add images it comes up with an error message saying that the ASIN is not active in Amazon’s catalogue.
After a month of contacting Seller Support, they’ve told me to try updating the listing with a full feed update using a product Flat File.
They give me instructions to do this which I’ve done but the listing is still search suppressed and missing the main image even though all the other attributes have updated.
SS have said this:
“After performing the full feed update wait for 24 hours, after 24 hours if your attribute is not updated please delete and wait 24 hours and then relist with all the values. Please note that this will not affect your Product Reviews or Sales History on the ASIN.”
I am obviously a bit scared of deleting the ASIN and am not sure how to do this.
Do I do this from the Flat File and just select Delete instead of Update?
If I delete and then add a new product using the same EAN as before, does this retain all of my customer reviews/sales history?
Many thanks, Damian

Got this from the help pages.
How can I delete specific product listings or replace all my listings?
When you delete a listing, the SKU, all sales history and product information are permanently removed from your seller account. Therefore, you should only delete the SKU and its listing information if you are not going to sell that item in the future.
Note: After you delete a SKU from your inventory, it can take up to 24 hours before that SKU is available for reuse.
To delete listings:
-
In Manage Inventory , find the listing you want to delete:
-
For single listings, update the inventory quantity to 0 and select Delete Product and Listing from the drop-down menu for the product you want to delete. If the inventory is not updated to 0, the offer will still remain live on the offer listing page since SKU deletion and inventory quantity deletion are separate operations
-
For multiple listings, purge your inventory using Purge and Replace Option and tick the box to the left of the listings you want to delete, and select Delete Product and Listing from the Action on the selected drop-down menu. If the inventory is not updated to 0, the offer will still remain live on the offer listing page since SKU deletion and inventory quantity deletion are separate operations
-
Click OK to delete or Cancel to not delete the listing.
Highlighted the relevant bits in bold for you.
Hope it helps.
Have you tried a feed file update using update where it gives you the option. Cant remember exactly bit think its called Update Delete and in the basic (brown) section of the template
Just found it the instructions say
Update Delete
Specifies the type of operation (Update, PartialUpdate or Delete) to be done on the data provided. If left blank, the default behaviour is “Update.” Use “Update” whenever you are changing any field in the existing product’s information, including reducing the inventory to 0. Only use “Delete” when you wish to remove a product completely and permanently from the catalogue.
After you have established a SKU for a product, please do not try changing it without first deleting the associated product from our systems through a delete feed.
PartialUpdate may be worth a try.
Hope this all helps and good luck.
