I have been using the normal laborious method of uploading images of my books using the old listing editing and it shows an image of the book I am selling against our listing on Amazon.

I have been trying the upload images through the Upload Images - Image Manager and see that the image of our offering is not showing against offering, am I doing something wrong. I am putting an image into the boxes and tried one by one but still no joy.

I am attempting to update the images for a number of products for which I am the brand owner. I am doing this by uploading a template with URLs linking to the images.

All the updates fail, and return error 4001001 'Unable to retrieve media content for URL <product name> : invalid URL provided'

Amazon documentation states that the following sources are accepted:

1 - Publicly accessible Amazon S3 bucket content downloaded through HTTP or HTTPS URL

2 - Publicly accessible Amazon CloudFront distribution content downloaded through HTTP or HTTPS URL

3 - Private Amazon S3 bucket content downloaded through S3 URL (for example, s3://bucket-name/object-name.jpg)

4 - Images hosted on third-party servers that are publicly available to Amazon.

My images are of type 4, they are hosted on a third party server with no password or access restrictions, that should be fully available to Amazon. I have tested this on random machines and any computer can access the images via the URLs. Both https and http versions fail. The file format is acceptable (.jpg) and the file size is within acceptable limits. There are no special characters within the file path.

(I would post an example URL, but non-amazon URLs and not allowed within forums)

This is slowly driving me insane, and Amazon seller support offer nothing - I'm stuck in an endless loop where they simply parrot the error message back to me, even though I've started the conversation by supplying them with the error message. Does anyone have any experience of dealing with this error message, or does anyone know of a way to get actual technical support? I need someone with access or knowledge of Amazon's backend to diagnose why my specific URLs are failing when they appear to meet all Amazon's stated requirements.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, before I completely lose my mind.

I have used BIL to expand my UK listings into EU marketplaces. I have also uploaded language specific images onto those EU listings i.e. I rewrote all text on the EU images into French, German, Spanish etc.

I am finding that the 'Live on Amazon' images for the EU listings are incorrect. Essentially all EU listings (DE,FR,IT and ES) ALL show the ES language images. In other words the specific language images I have uploaded onto each EU listing seem to be overridden by ES language images. I've removed and uploaded the images several times on each marketplace but they do not show.

Can someone advise please how to fix this? Thank you
