My book title doesn't show in a search
My book title is ‘OXFORD By a Very Oxford Cat’. But if I search for it, it doesn’t show. So I am nervous about telling people they can get it on Amazon, as they would need to go through several screens to fine it! My experience of Amazon is that books show immediately the title is typed in. Glad of any advice. With thanks. Julia

Hi Julia
Assuming you are Julia E M Cameron, your book was 7th in the list… but there were unrelated books preceeding it which Az would presumable rather sell…
Or you could advise people to search by ISBN instead…
ISBN-10:** 1999662199
ISBN-13:** 978-1999662196
Best
Brian
PS You could do with tidying up the book image - it’s rather pixilated!

Thanks, Brian. Yes, I’m trying to get them to re-load the image.
On being seventh on the listing - it seems wrong of Amazon to do that when it’s a unique title, and the rest are unrelated. People would give up searching!
Has anyone had a similar problem? Has Amazon done anything about it? Glad of any advice.

Rightly or (RATHER) wrongly it seems to depend on how you search. I tried several combinations and the best results was showing the book 1st when I searched the following… exactly
“Oxford Cat” “Cameron” or 9781999662196 ie the ISBN

The simple answer, unfortunately, is that Amazon search is absolutely atrocious. It gets discussed on the forum quite regularly but Amazon don’t seem in any rush to change things or even to acknowledge that there is an issue.
I’m not sure that there is much you can do other than making the ASIN the best you can and crossing your fingers. As someone else pointed out, the image needs fixing, I would also add a more detailed description (you have more description on your website so a simple copy and paste would suffice). Have you added keywords? How about the “look inside” feature? That seems to help books rank higher. Once sales get going it will naturally rank higher in the search results anyway.

With your particular title, the image (as noted) is very poor and needs replacing with a larger, high resolution image (at least 1000 pixels on the longer side).
It doesn’t yet have an Amazon sales rank and that also, paradoxically, counts against it in search.
Adding appropriate keywords should help.

Thank you fro your help. Amazon has a hi-res image, but is being slow in replacing it. (I don’t know how they ever got the poor one.)
Does anyone know if fba (rather than fb merchant) would give preferential treatment? I would move to that if I thought it would help to make the book findable.
