How do I list unbranded products?

I have 50pcs of unbranded Electric Scooters which have no brand. They have a model number but no brand.

How can I create a new listing for these on Amazon, as it won’t let me create a listing without registering the brand on Amazon. But they are unbranded.

Is there a way to get around this? Or what do I do?

It’s not something to “get around”, it’s something you need to address. There are several features of interest here:

The first feature of interest is, are these items classified as toys? If they are, are you approved to sell in the toy category?

The second feature of interest is, do they have an EAN (barcode) and have you tried entering that barcode in the listing to access the database. If so, what comes up?

The third feature of interest is, if you have approval to sell in the category you are attempting to list under, you can apply for GTIN exemption, whereby you can then use the term “Generic” in the brand and manufacturer boxes and will not require an EAN.

The final feature of interest here is, this item (if unbranded) may already be available on Amazon in many different forms, brands etc. so you need to be certain that have authority to sell it, as it stands. Just because it is unbranded, doesn’t mean you have authority to sell it.

The link below is to apply for GTIN exemption

You can try by mentioning Generic or N/A in the brand field while you are creating your listing assuming you have the EAN/UPC still as it is a must to list your item on Amazon.

The item will have a brand registered as part of its traceable history as its an electronic item - Unless its a copy/counterfit from such as Alibaba but then would you really want to sell this to someone?

Also if its electrical do you have public liability on the offchance it short circuits and burns the house down?

I’d imagine you are going to need invoices, CE and electrical safety certificates and all sorts of items. As such I think ‘unbranded’ is not the right answer for this type of product.

Also, given that e-scooters are illegal to use practically everywhere except on private land - is it a sensible thing to sell?

Worse?, l have something not electric and there are many for sale on Ebay but not one on any Amazon site but l cannot sell it because of Amazon stupidity which has plagued me for years since the first day!

Don’t, there’s no protection from listing hi-jacking.

Register a brand, and list the generic product against your new brand. that way, if anyone with the same product tries to sell without your permission, you can easily remove them.

Also, you will actually be building your own brand. which is way better, as customers will start to search for your brand on products they want.

Dear God, unbranded electrical goods… not something I’d ever buy, certainly not something I’d try to sell.

Where do they even come from?

Even the shoddiest of z brand items have a brand, it scares me to think of buying a product that even the manufacturer doesn’t want to tell me they made it!

Guys - I read through most of this thread (until it got abusive) but still dont feel any more enlightened. I have invented a new product, I have registered it with GS1 at a cost of £100 for 100 barcodes (GTIN) with the brand name ‘Clinch xxx’. I have not purchased a trademark for my product yet as this costs £170 in the UK so I would like to see how well my product sells before committing to that expense.

But when I try to Add product through Amazon with the GTIN the ‘Save and finish’ button remains greyed out. There is no indication of what is wrong besides a message that appeared immediately on entering the Vital Info screen which read ‘Because you are not the brand owner for this product, your suggested changes might not be displayed on the detail page. Please register with Brand Registry if you are the brand owner for this product.’ No idea how it would know this before I enter the Brand!! I suppose this could be a software bug. Anyone know?

Any advice would be gratefully received. btw I tried entering N/A in the Brand field and this didnt work.
