Amazon not sharing the Buy Box

I’ve been on the same listing with Amazon for over 4 weeks now and I matched their price via FBA. But during that period of time I have realised that Amazon sold over 30 (with 200+ remaining) units and the quantity of my units still remains unmoved at 44 units.
When I tried to reduce my price recently by £2.50 in an attempt to shift my units quickly then Amazon matches it.
Now what is the point in doing FBA if Amazon won’t share the Buy Box except for that I’m racking home storage fees and not profits?

Amazon is not about sharing on their site… The best you can do is wait until they sell out. IF they do …

That or drop your price until they wont match you any more.

Overall it’s a no win scenario.

Unfortunately, competing for the BuyBox with Amazon is never easy.

As you already mentioned, they will often lower their price as soon as you do but I have some listings where I am able to get the BuyBox even against Amazon’s offer.

Whatever made you believe that Amazon would ‘share’ the Buy Box? If they run out of stock you might get a look in, however sometimes they’ll still award themselves the Boy Box and tell customers it might take 1-3 months to arrive.

Probably better to stay away from any listing Amazon are on.

I’m pretty sure Amazon give itself an ‘A+ rating’ as a seller so that fairly gives them an advantage in the algorithm and wins them the buy box.

Pay the £11 to get your units back, pointless competing against Amazon.

Amazon will sell at a loss not so much as to get the buy box but rather to try to get third party sellers to lower their prices therefore giving the customer the better deal which is what Amazon is all about. I’ve seen it happen. I’ve seen the price of a product that is supplied to Amazon by the only distributor of that product. Amazon then sells it lower than the price I’ve seen them buy it for trying to get me the only other seller of the product to lower my price. They make loads more money from fees and fines than selling, and the amount they do make gives them the power to not bat an eyelid at whether they win a buybox or not.

Do the following trick…

Reduce your price every minute by £0.01.
After a while Amazon will give up the buy box if their losses from sales are too high

The point of everything on Amazon is to make Amazon money. You are paying Amazon to undercut you - do not forget that Amazon themselves are your biggest competitor, and although they allow you to pay your money to them in exchange for various services, this will not change.

Maybe drop your price to a silly level, wait for Amazon to do the same then buy their stock… then up the price again
