Can i modify a product and keep existing listing?
Hi everyone. I am the brand owner and only seller of this product. I want to make a very small modification/improvement to it. It Can i keep my existing listing which has 50+ reviews and just add/update with photos of the improved feature or must i create a completely new listing? Its taken a couple of years to get the reviews and don’t want to have to start back from scratch again when it is essentially the same item with an improved feature.
Would it be acceptable to ensure all units of the existing design have sold first before updating the description/adding photos?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

That really depends on exactly what the change is.
If it’s just something small, ie an improvement then yes.
But generally a manufacturer who changes a product, will create a new EAN number for it.
Which means that no, a change wouldn’t be acceptable in Amazon’s eyes.
It’s a difficult one. I think you need to explain a bit more as to exactly what it is that you mean.

The technical answer is no, if it is a different product then it should be a new ASIN.
In practice, is it a material change that a customer can notice? Do you get repeat orders where a change would mean a customer might think the ‘new item’ is different and/or counterfeit?
In practice you have to use your judgement. The rules say make a new listing, so be aware of the risks if you do not.

I agree on the no. I’ve seen several brand owners suspended over such.
I would try to set up a relationship if possible for the 2. You have to be careful though.
Also as a brand owner you might be able to get them to use the “New version” attribute.
