Low Product Review Counts - Amazon Forcing Customers To Leave Full Reviews Instead of Ratings

Who else is noticing that getting product ratings has become a lot harder? Amazon review request emails sent to customers now force the customer to leave a full text review instead of a simple product star rating. This means that only customers with a truly negative experience are incentivized to leave a review and it makes launching new products significantly harder.

A quick glance in the "New Releases" best sellers on any category will show you that these new products often have lower star ratings than similar products that have been around a long time.

This doesn't seem like it's in Amazon's best interests because most customers that had a positive experience won't go out of their way to leave a review. I really hope that the system is changed back to how it was before when customers could leave star ratings with a simple click.
