Amazon Warehouse Distribution / FBA Does Amazon Restock FBA items automatically? At no charge?

I know sending bulk items to AWD has a charge / no placement fees..

But is there a charge when the warehouse restocks an FBA item?

I have never used AWD and do not know what type of charges they will charge.

would there be double shipping? paying to go to Amazon warehouse then paying to move it to FBA?

AWD does feature auto-replenishment, which bypasses some of the application of certain FBA fees - though there certain restrictions. From their program page:

"Optimize FBA inventory levels for maintaining in-stock, fast shipping, and delivering on the Prime delivery promise

  • With auto-replenishment, AWD manages inventory replenishment into FBA on your behalf. Therefore, low inventory level, storage utilization, and capacity overage fees may not apply when you use auto-replenishment to maintain FBA inventory levels*.
  • Proprietary science model optimizes to provide fastest shipping speeds to customers. It is based on forward looking seasonality while analyzing against YoY trends.
  • It runs multiple times a week to monitor inventory levels in FBA, and If needed, an inbound shipment is created from AWD to maintain the optimal inventory level in FBA.
  • Shipments are optimized for placement in FCs based on customer demand."

If you have follow up questions, I always recommend sellers reach out to the AWD support team by using this link, and including “AWD” or "Upstream storage" or “Amazon Warehousing and Distribution” in your case.

Theoretically, AWD can auto-replenish FBA, but in practice, it is a mess. I just found out that I have an ASIN that sells really well out of stock, even though we have it in AWD. Besides that, I also found out that there are at least three more ASINs marked as Low Stock—they will charge a fee for them, although we also have them in AWD.

I opened a case, but the loss is mine since I'm going to lose around two weeks of sales - transit time for replenishing and making the ASIN available again.

So, it is automatic, but, as with all things automatic on Amazon, you should not trust it at all. Be aware!

DO NOT USE AWD. You will regret every aspect of it. It will cripple your company. There are no lines of communication. Everything gets lost. Your "Auto Replenish" will not work. It's a horrid service.
