Warehouse Damaged - Amazon gave me 50% of the value

Amazon seller support is absolutely horrid! Amazon gave me 50% of what they should have for 11 warehouse damaged items. When I opened a support chat and inquired why that happened the rep sent me a link to the FBA reimbursement policy and stated "Please be informed that we will not be able to make any additional adjustments."

After taking direct quotes from the policy the rep sent me proving to the rep that Amazon's current policy is to refund the full 100% based on the Warehouse Damaged they just paused the chat and left.

This happened twice now!

What the heck is going on with Seller Support?! This is bonkers!

Hi @Seller_p7fZ5OJOffXhc,

If you can share the verbiage you're referencing I'd be happy to take a look... including any case numbers.

That said, the Calculation of reimbursement value is detailed here on the FBA inventory reimbursement policy help page (emphasis mine):

Because item prices tend to fluctuate over time and may vary widely from seller to seller, we compare several price indicators to determine an estimated sale price for the item when calculating the reimbursement amount. The price indicators we compare are as follows:

  • The median price at which you have sold the item on Amazon over the past 18 months
  • The median price at which other sellers have sold the same item on Amazon over the past 18 months
  • The current list price you have set for the same item on Amazon or the mean list price if you have multiple listings for the same item
  • The current list price for the same item from other sellers on Amazon

If we don't have enough information to calculate the estimated sale price of a unit using the price indicators described above, we assign an estimated sale price based on the price of a comparable product. We may ask you for additional information or documentation to help us determine that value.

If we elect to reimburse you for a shipment to Amazon claim, we reimburse you for the estimated proceeds of a sale of that item.

Regards,

Topher

Better than customer damage where Safe-t gives you 10%!

Same thing happened to us.

And this is already an upgrade from Amazon, denying delivery entirely.

Amazon, is the exclusive entity, that has collectively stolen the most from hundreds of thousands of small businesses worldwide, and no one seems to care about this.

Same thing happened to me, and this was the policy that was quoted when I complained

"Updates to the FBA inventory reimbursement policy for fulfillment center operations claims

Effective November 11, 2022, we are changing the FBA inventory reimbursement policy to update how we calculate reimbursement value for fulfillment center operations claims for items that are in an unsellable condition at the time they are lost or damaged. For unsellable items, Amazon will reimburse you at a valuation consistent with the estimated proceeds of the discounted sale of the unit. For more information, go to the FBA inventory reimbursement policy." https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/GQHQGBTD7XB7EECN#wjz_cjc_jcb-3

I did run a report and luckily only had 5 items that were reimbursed at a ridiculously low rate last year. There should be some visibility into how they calculate the "valuation consistent with the estimated proceeds of the discounted sale of the unit." But this is BS anyway as we give the perfectly good items and it's not on us when they damage them in the warehouse. Of course a damaged unit will sell for less - but you (Amazon) were the one that broke it in the first place. Ever heard the old phrase "you break it, you buy it"?

FBA is for losers, Real businesses store and ship the items themself, Using FBA is not a business, FBA is A scam.

Better get used to it, starting I believe next month Amazon will only reimburse the manufacturing price aka pennies to the dollar. I just pulled most of my stuff out of FBA because of it.

Here is another one: Warehouse Damaged item - 10% Reimbursement.

Case ID: 17228466531

Thank you Amazon, for being such a wonderful partner!

Not sure if it's what's going on here, but we've been reimbursed 50% for warehouse-damaged items when the item was already a customer-damaged item (e.g., something that would have been possibly resellable as open-box/used) that later also became warehouse-damaged or lost.

New rules. Apparently half the staff miss the training on the new rules.

The can go in now and refund you the cheapest price someone has sold the same item for over a period of a year I think.

The same with my seeds. I tried listing a set that cost $129. But some one else sold a set, no where near the same, but Amazon would only let me sell it for $29. My seeds are grown in the US and not in India (like Burpee is now doing) or China.so these other sellers can sell their stuff cheaper.

And I though Amazon said if the seeds were not grown in the US then they would not be allowed to list them. But only sellers would know where they are grown.
