Shipping Perishable Items

Since we sell food products, some of which are perishable and must be shipped with ice packs. Especially as we transition to warmer months, transit time is a concern of ours and as such, we prefer to not ship out products on Thursdays and Fridays since the transit time changes from 2days to 4days. Is there a way we can specify that we are unable to ship on Thursdays and Fridays, so all orders placed those days will be shipped out Monday.

I understand that I could add a 2-day handling time which could account for this, although this would then provide inaccurate arrival times for orders placed on any other day. Do you have any solutions to this?

Hi @Seller_2PlHRpGNDvyws,

Here are two strategies you can consider:

  1. Adjusting Cut-Off Times: You can use Amazon's Shipping Region Automation feature in your shipping template to set different order cut-off times for each day of the week. This way, you can set earlier cut-off times for Thursday and Friday, helping to ensure that orders are prepared for Monday shipping without affecting the expected delivery times for other days. More details on this can be found here: https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/G202096730.
  2. Handling Time Exceptions: For perishable SKUs, you could request a handling time exception. This would allow you to specify handling times that reflect the unique needs of temperature-sensitive items. You can contact Selling Partner Support to help with setting up a SKU-specific handling time. Check out the guidelines here: https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/G200955560.

These approaches should help optimize the shipping process for your products. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Best, Michael
