Authorized reseller but unable to list product – while other sellers are actively selling

Hello everyone,

I’m currently facing a confusing situation and would really appreciate guidance from experienced sellers or Amazon moderators.

I have obtained an official authorization letter from the brand to sell one of their products. However, when I try to create or list the product on Amazon, I receive a restriction stating that the product is not eligible for sale and cannot be listed.

I contacted Seller Support, and they informed me that:

* This product cannot be listed by sellers

* Only Amazon can create or enable the listing

* I should “check back later”

However, the confusing part is:

* The exact same product is currently being sold by 3–4 other sellers

* These sellers do not appear to be authorized (as far as I know)

* The listing is active and they are successfully selling

So I’m trying to understand:

1. How are these sellers able to sell this product if it is restricted?

2. Is this a case of “grandfathered” sellers (previously approved sellers)?

3. Is there any way for a new seller (even with authorization) to get approval?

4. Could this be related to category gating or brand-level restrictions?

5. Is there a specific team (Catalog / Brand Registry / Seller Performance) I should contact instead of standard Seller Support?

I am fully willing to provide:

* Brand authorization letter

* Invoices

* Any compliance documents required

I’m not trying to bypass policies — I want to do this correctly and in full compliance.

If anyone has experienced a similar situation or knows the correct path to unlock such listings, I would really appreciate your advice.

Thank you in advance.

if the brand is brand registered, ask them to add you in brand registry as seller.

When you say other sellers are selling the item do you mean they are all selling under the same ASIN or they have separate listings (so selling under different ASIN and GTIN?)

If the same ASIN - then yes check if its Brand Registered and if so get yourself added as a seller.

If different ASINs - then it looks like the other sellers are selling under their own GTINs which is against Amazon policy but many sellers seem to get away with it. Getting Amazon to do anything about it though is a different matter.

Amazon need to make up their mind about their catalog - either force the issue that same identical product needs be under same ASIN (entirely possible when often same picture is used so it should be easy for AI to pick up identical products) - or go the eBay route and let all sellers have their own listings. At the moment its some sort of mish mash and we get many discrepancies like with what you are experiencing. Amazon have tried resolving it with Brand Registry but this makes matters worse with how they have implemented it.
